I never would have thought to roast them over the fire! that sounds wonderful... especially because I otherwise despise this breed and refuse to have them.

Well, they don't have the right appearance for any pure breed I can think of, so I agree they are probably some kind of Easter Egger. I wonder what color eggs they would lay if they had lived to grow up?

They are said to lay beautiful, dark, chocolate-brown eggs known for their sweet flavor, thick whites, and creamy yolks.

They are one of the best birds to use as target practice. No one really wants to eat them, they are cheap, and they aren't good for much of anything else.

Yup - just out of the package not my thing.

But, leave them sit for awhile, then roast them, add dark chocolate and graham crackers, and they become something special!
