was given two chickens

Aww, you are cool for saving them!

It's a good idea to deworm and dust all new birds. Ivermectin is great stuff, it kills most of the blood sucking parasites- mites and worms. And it would take care if they do have scaly leg.... They can be dusted with sevin garden powder or poultry dusting powder. diatomaceous earth is very popular as natural control but their effectiveness is sometimes in question.

If the other chickens are outside, no harm in treating all of them just in case, especially if they've had some direct contact.

Sometimes nails are missing on birds with profuse feathering, either as a side effect of sorts but there is a gene that directly causes missing toenails and shortened toes.

Cochins are so fluffy and feathered all over, they don't tolerate heat too well so if it;s hot.. Check them at night when its cool or cold to see if they are still mouth breathing. They should not make any noises while breathing, so that is a good time to check for it..

I was wondering if anyone had heard if a hen it a year old and never laid an egg she would never lay eggs is that possible?

Because there are so many factors that can influence whether a hen goes into production there is no way to make such a blanket statement that would be accurate.

ok well i will see, we do believe that the rooster she came with is a major factor into this. She was so stressed and tormented almost by him. Sadly the rooster is way too aggressive and is attacking her plus even sent one of the family members to the hospital to get stitches since he bit so hard it cut them open on the back of their thigh. So not what i was wanting to do, he will become rooster stew. Im hoping this will make it easier on her, since she is so sweet. If she doesn't lay any eggs and her temperament stay the way she is we will just keep her since she is really sweet with our nieces and nephews. Loves to eat food out of their hands and they just get so giggly over it.

Oh man that is sad but making stew is absolutely the right thing to do.

You might encounter people offering various advise with claims of reforming a rooster. Ignore them, as most of them don't truly cure the rooster and truthfully once a rooster goes that far to hurt someone, it's "beyond hope".

There IS a genetic cause behind some rooster aggression. This is why some roosters cannot be cured short of being killed. Also this means if the rooster is allowed to sire offspring, there is a fair chance of some of his sons being aggressive also. Not worth it.

Hope that hen recovers fully and stays as sweet as ever.

I do too, we gave them a chance but we thought maybe under their circumstances of their living area maybe is slight aggression was from neglect given and not feeling safe. But sadly his aggression grew to the point we were unable to even let him out because he would attempt to go after us and keep us away from our other coop. He is a big boy too... not light on the feet he stands over the the height of my father in laws knees and he is over 6 feet. I greatly appreciate the support and more knowledge given with this breed. I didn't think that breed had gotten that big whew!!
