Was so mad I nearly beat my roo to death.

Sheesh! People, chill.

Obviously nobody suggested that slamming a rooster's head against stuff is the best way to tame an aggressive rooster. In the heat of the moment, one time, it seems reasonable to me. Now is the time to learn better ways to handle the situation.

Here are some suggestions on handling an aggressive rooster.

The techniques work until you run across a rooster that needs outplacement. Out to another flock, out to freezer camp.

just have to post seeing this thread and said... i very love the term used: "freezer camp"!!! lol

on another note, this situation is like having a neighbour who is constantly watching and taunting you, trying to cut and or rape you (as sometimes they jump on and dig spurs in to mount to mate or just dominate). would you just let it happen when you went out, or would you move, or ask them to calmly move, or... just force them to leave or leave you alone?

Yep..its disturbing... kinda like beating up a defenseless toddler or somethig...
If you cant control your temper with an animal... then please do the right thing and cull it or re-home it. What a shame..

LEt's get over it. If yo don't like this thread, don't comment. This is bordering on harassing an OP.

Really? Just like you quoting my posts? If you really wanted to leave it alone, you would not have quoted my post and made a comment to me. Think about it... and take your own advice.
And i stand by my posts...

I think what has kept this thread alive is more people jumping to the defense of the OP, whom they think was being harrassed than it is by the people saying just cull the roo if you don't want him (don't beat on him).

I re-read through all the posts again and although I had to do it quickly, I didn't see where anyone was harrassing the OP.

It's real simple in my book. If you have an aggressive roo, cull him or cure him (if you can, some roos you can't). Don't beat him. Make it as quick and as painless as humanly possible. End of story.
