Was this the "egg song"?

Hurray!!! I just love the egg song!!

Definitely the Egg Song. I particularly like it when the roosters join in. Like they had anything to do with it. However, I have learned that it could mean "I'm thinking about laying an egg" or "I might lay an egg today" or "I laid an egg an hour ago" or " I'm laying an egg right now". Doesn't always mean an egg is imminent. Crazy chickens! But the Egg Song is always exciting. I know to most people getting an egg isn't that big of a deal, but to us Chicken Lovers, it is! We always all run out just to see who it is singing!

My husband always hears the egg song around noon while sitting on the porch. Today we were at the gym and when I got home I went to see if there were eggs since there were none this morning.

Good thing I'd read some posts referring to it before I actually SAW it. For a few seconds I totally freaked!!

I made a thread after witnessing my guys doing it. "What kind of crazy chicken orgy IS THIS!??!!"

My girls egg song sometimes catches me offguard and I will be concerned, then I remember she is just passing a giant egg out of her butt and I let her be.

Anybody wants to listen to my Rebecca singing the Egg Song for a full 3 minutes, just PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send you the audio file I recorded on my cell phone.

I LOVE the Egg Song. It's just such a silly thing, so simple, so repetitive. You know SOMETHING's going on!

Our girls will do the egg song randomly too, before laying, while laying and sometimes not at all. Most of the time it is while laying though... My Ds and I run to the back door and listen carefully... bocking goes on and on and suddenly STOPS. I raise my hand and declare, "ding! eggs are ready!" and we run out there and grab 'em, lol. My kids love it!

yes me to. We got a couple hens after moving from Alaska back to home (nc) and the were put in the yard next thing I knew my girls 7 & 10 came running and squaking momma your chickens are dead. I said what ? They said they laying on the ground flat not sitting. So I run over expecting dead chickens. I run around the corner to find them in a big hole that they had dug. My 10 yo says you were right momma they are smart she even dug her own grave lol. I freaked out then my father in law came down and said there dust bathing. !!!! I was like whew thanks I was beginning to believe my 10 yo lol.

I have only one bird who sings and that is after she lays. I love it. The egg song to me sounds what I think as the sterotypical sound of a chicken. The rest of the times my chickens make noised, but no loud BAWK.
