Washington Feather Fanciers Show Chehalis, WA Nov 17-18 Also birds that are being brought for sale

We will be going to the show & I'm looking for hatching eggs. Is there anyone coming who can bring Blue/Splash Orpington or Paint Silkie hatching eggs? I would also like to add some nice blue eggs to the egg basket - either hatching eggs or a nice friendly Ameraucana pullet/hen?

If anyone is interested we can bring:
  • pair of lavender bantem ameraucana, about 6 months old
  • japanese cross bantam pullet (orange with black tail, pretty & goes broody)
  • bronze turkey trio, or single hen
  • nice blue easteregger pullet who just started laying
  • pair of partridge rock hens, year and half old
  • 4 week old sex link roo - free to good home!

I looked it up and dang it! The show is on a clam did weekend just like the show down in Oregon was. Ah well. It's a late dig anyway and will probably be very cold. I'll go look at the chickens instead.

We'll just have to limit out this saturday when we go. If it isn't ice cold and super windy.

I'm crossing my fingers that someone brings some wheaten ameraucana pullets or hens or the unlikely light brahmas.

Are you looking at LF in the brahma? The bantam brahma is a super layer..... just sayin in comparison to a good LF B which is a 'giant' breed in comparison to the lovely but elegant AM's
=:~)

My DH has fallen in love with the large fowl brahma. We have some hatchery ones that are just sweet things even though they were raised by a spaz of an easter egger. The ameraucanas we have are two months older than them and they all hang out and sleep together. I think DH just likes large birds. Well I can't say that. He wouldn't concider any of the Jersey Giants that were for sale at Salem.

What is the deadline for entering birds? I'd like to enter a couple of mine, but they're molting. I clipped wings feathers last spring, and about half of them are still on the wings.

This will be my first show. I think I need a mentor. I don't know about bands and NPIP testing or whether my birds wings will be acceptable. They're still molting. Anyone want to help a beginner?

I am not sure about the testing, but I think if you need it done then you might want to get it scheduled soon. Here is the contact people for WA. Dr. Lyndon Badcoe- [email protected] and
Michele Gill- [email protected]
As for the wing feathers, if most of them are gone I would say to try it and see what they say. At least you could get some feedback on your birds for things other than their wings. I am going to see how it's all done. Next I am going to volunteer to be the person who goes around and writes things on the card for the judge. I forget what that is called at the moment. I think if I could do that I would learn alot.

How many clipped feathers are left on your birds?
