Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hehe, your boy looks very patient sitting there for the picture. Athena hates to sit still for pictures because it means she's to far away from me. I had to lock Zeus in the house to even get her to stay there for a moment.

ETA, that feeder looks awesome that you have. I need something like that.
i take it Zeus is also a GSD? Are they related? Love GSDs especially the working lines.

The feed station is an experiment, mainly designed to protect the feed from the weather and the dogs (mainly FAT Corgi the younger) and to provide some alternative cover. Now that it's been deployed for a few days there are a few things I'd change. It's only about 25 pounds, super easy to move, but I'm afraid one of our gusty wind storms could blow it across the yard. I'm going to put wheels on one side and attach ballast to prevent the wind from picking it up. Also, the chickens don't much like the PVC pipe floor, though maybe they just need to get used to it since it's not intended as their main roost. I'm going to build something similar as a coop to replace the ark, but will use wooden bars flattened on the top similar to the roost in the ark.

Zeus is an australian shepherd, australian cattle dog cross. He's the sweetest thing.

We got him from humane society in Hermiston. Athena came from a guy in Hermiston. She's just a farmyard german shepherd. We'd had a breakin right after we started moving to this property and needed a dog bigger than my old schipperke. My DH had always wanted a GSD, so we got a puppy. They are only a month apart. Athena is such a baby. She still thinks she's a little dog. They grew up with the chickens, so I've never had a issue other than them eating the poop.

It's the beginning of pasty butt probably. Just take a warm wet paper towel and soak her bum on it (today I actually sat one of my newbies in a teacup full of warm water because she was really pasted closed) and pull off the poop.

Ah, I figured that might have been the case. I didn't know if it had more "worm" than "dingleberry" properties. Thanks!!

Aaaaaaand, duh, where would a teeny little fluffy baby get worms from??!!

I can be slower than most sometimes haha!

I have so much to be grateful for right now!   I get to pick up the new babies as soon as I leave work :love

We finally are looking at property, although we don't really know where that will be right now.  I can't wait to actually have a deed to some land, eventhough I know we won't start building for years, at least I can plant my orchard this year!  My mom kinda bummed me out about my grape-growing plans, she said I would HAVE to be in Eastern WA for them to flourish and not mold.  I have looked and love the Winthrop and Cashmere areas and heard they have some great wine-grape weather

I guess if anybody has seen anything we are lookin' fer 15-20+ acres of land (raw or not) with a creek or stream.  It would have to be under $50K for us to be able to afford it.  I am not a huge fan of Stevens County and thanks to a BYC friend a ways back, I frequent landwatch.com and landsofwashington.com.

I bought about 10 starter grape plants all different varieties. After five years I have one, yep one, that has survived. Sadly there has never been any grapes. However, we get a LOT of rain and I think it just drowns them.
