I'll take any recipes I can get that are child/husband friendly even some that aren't. I am so tired of peas and green beans.doctors, naturopaths, and nutritionists who prescribe diets to help others overcome health issues then dump them out the door to figure it out, need to be clobbered. You just need ideas, encouragement, and support. This sounds like an anti-inflammatory diet with removal of food sensitivities. If you want some more resources, hit me up on a PM.
Yeah I have talked to my husband about it a few times. Then I finally screamed at him on night when the pizza showed up. For a while I'd fix his plate and just set it in front of him and he'd eat it. But then I began feeling like I was his servant and stopped doing that.Oh that's just plain awful. Have you talked to him about it?
Quote:So...just....DON'T. If he won't eat what you cook for yourself (which will be yummy if you start cooking Paleo), let him go hungry.
Ditto on the Paleo being really yummy! My DD and her boyfriend use the Paleo diet and the health benefits have been great for them both. The food they eat is delicious with lots of meat and a good variety of other foods. Yes, there are limitations but what they eat is really yummy. She's learned a lot more about making foods from scratch (like mayo), and using herbs and spices. Food is all about flavor, right? You could start by just adding a few recipes at a time and adding more along the way. It can't hurt to try, right?![]()
I ended 30 years of "chronic bronchitis" by changing my diet.
There's so many gluten free options to choose from now, it's not like 10 years ago when all the GF stuff was horrible. Red Robin has GF buns and fries. Spaghetti Factory has GF noodles, Chipotle has tons of GF options. Garlic Jim's pizza has GF crust. There's so many choices. Udi's buns (which is what they use at Red Robin) has awesome bagels, muffins, buns and breads. Tinkyada/Pasta Joy has amazing rice noodles. If you live in Seattle, the options are endless- you can get GF pizza and pasta- entrees delivered to your door (I am sooo jealous - wish I could get it delivered!). Razzi's Pizza at 85th and Greenwood has a huge 2 page menu of GF options- pasta, grinders, everything- incredible food.
So...just....DON'T. If he won't eat what you cook for yourself (which will be yummy if you start cooking Paleo), let him go hungry. Sorry, maybe that's mean. But I cook ONE meal for our whole family. I try to cook at least 4-5 meals a week that I KNOW the kids or DH love, but after that if they refuse to eat what I cook they go hungry. I refuse to be a short order cook. I cook delicious healthy food and treats and if they don't like that, they'll be skinnier.![]()

As I understand it, the blueberries need to have about 1/3 of the old growth removed each year to add vigor for new growth. Without the pruning they get old and produce poorly or stop producing. There is/was an abandoned blueberry "orchard" (?) a couple of miles from us. Every year they produced less and less. Eventually a developer bought the land and built houses so we had to plant our own bushes! DH does the pruning and they do great.Lol! That's a lot of pruning.
Never heard of pruning blueberries. I have 4 & 1 huckleberry.
My pears, nectarines, and plum are all still little so no pruning yet.
Quote: How in the world did I get on a chicken forum and forget to tell ya about the chickens (hopefully) new digs???
Well the barn is also VERY old. But the whole thing will house only chickens and a few goats.
Here is the barn pics....

To the right you can just hardly see the chicken wire to the one largish coop.

On the left is where there are a bunch of 3x6 coops. The deviders will be taken out and made into one large coop each.

Here is a fast shot of the house. I will add more tomorrow, but I must sleep tonight.
I know. There are options in Olympia, too. I screw up when I've let myself get so hungry that I just eat whatever is available (like Costco pizza today).
Yeah, that's what I do. I don't even cook that much, but when I do, that's what there is and you either eat it or grab a yogurt and some fruit for your dinner.
A big problem I have is the planning and organization that is required to stick to a gluten-free diet. I don't know if it's my ADD or if everyone struggles with that, but it's nearly impossible for me to plan meals, so I end up eating really unhealthy things for dinner (like ice cream), because I haven't planned anything ahead of time.
So my blue cuckoo silkie cockerel has figured out he's a boy the last couple days. He crowed yesterday for the first time and started grabbing girls. Today the girls decided they are not putting up with it and are chasing him off. They wouldn't let him in the coop tonight. His mother sat in the doorway and attacked him if he came near. Made him stay out until almost full dark.
His father isn't defending the girls from him. So the girls are helping each other. The gender confused girl has been after that boy when he makes her friends scream.
So if he doesn't settle down, may have to get rid of him.
