Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Is anyone ordering chicks, ducklings, or poults from any hatchery anytime soon? I want some turkey poults but cannot afford the shipping price or to buy 25 of them. Plus I only want 2 or 3 of them.
Otherwise i'll take my chances with a feedstore poult. I never have good luck with the ones from feedstores.

But YOU TC, I had no idea of your history with BAT - you are a desired commodity in theater! They are always clamoring to find someone willing to work on costuming! If you ever thought you might be able to let them have some more of your time, I would be MORE than happy to introduce you to some folks in Olympia theater. They'll want to be your new besties!
I am aware you have a surgery coming up soon and will be out of commission. I hope you heal well and thoroughly. But after that... the theater could be calling your name!

PS - not sure what your surgery date is and how long you're expected to rest, but if you're well enough you should think about meeting up with the ladies from the North and I for dinner in Olympia on Sunday, April 21st. They'll be attending my 2:30 show and we'll be going someplace downtown just after 4 PM.
Well, it's been many years since since BAT. But I think I'd like that. Surgery has been moved up to Tuesday (Cervical spine [neck]) so I may be recovered enough to drive by then. Thank you for the invite, I'll keep you posted. Looking forward to meeting you all

I'm so excited for next Saturday!
Can't wait to see friends and meet new people!
(and, of course, check out the fabulous show chickens AND pick up a special banty silver-laced Wyandotte!)

How about I bring some "Hi, my name is ______" stick-on name tags?

Hello, all!

The snake talk is creeping me out! I'm from the Mojave Desert, and I was raised to stay away from snakes, as pretty much everything in the desert has venom, stickers, or both. Our yard has a bumper crop of harmless ribbon snakes, and even though I know they're perfectly safe, I cringe when the kids handle them! Early training trumps logic.

My big news is WE GOT A DOG! I'm a dog person to the core, but we haven't had one for years. We opted for a cardigan welsh corgi (the corgi WITH a tail...) She's a year old, so we bypassed some of the more irritating puppy behaviors. She was sold as a pup to a breeder as a show prospect, but she didn't quite grow out to show quality. Fine by me! I want a buddy, an obedience dog, and maybe later agility, so a couple minor cosmetic faults make no difference. This is my girl, Maddie!

She has herding bloodlines, and it's come out in her in spades. She herds cats, children, and chickens with no intent to harm any of them. (NOT that we let her out with the chickens unattended...)

Nice to be back in the chicken forum!

She looks very cute and contented.

Aww look at that sweet girl - she's so pretty! You lucked out with that good looking lady. I don't see a lot of the Cardigan Welsh Corgies around here. My sister has a Pembroke who I found for her when his elderly owner needed to rehome him. He has some socialization issues so isn't good around other dogs, but he's cuter than heck. He stayed with us one weekend when she was out of town and we took him to the park. We laughed and laughed as he tried to "herd" the swallows flying over his head. Around and around they all went and around and around he went as he barked trying to keep them in order. DH, DD and I had such a good time watching that short legged little boy as he worked doubletime trying to get a job done!

Congrats on the new family member!

I was able to clean the freebie dog house and it really looks great. There were a couple of broken pieces of siding near the top that will be great vents as soon as I put hardware cloth over them. Now I just need a perch inside and a door. Easy Peasy since DH is such a great "get 'er done" kinda fella!

Also prepped a couple of planting bed and got seeds in for spinach, kale, and rainbow chard. I haven't planted chard before and don't know if I'll like it, but I'm sure the chickens will! A lot of the greens I grow are mostly for the chickens... my BFF thinks I'm a little nuts even though she has more chickens than I do.
But I really like having them in the laundry room. I love hearing them in there all day!!! It will be way too quiet when they're out in the garage.

Well, I'd better get going, I'm feeling very lazy today. I think it's the time change. I like longer days but hate the lost hour.
Have a great day everybody!

I've got a dog-house conversion also- it's a temporary house for the newest batch of laying hens we got. and works like a charm, though not as nice looking as the other one. I will be glad to get the big chicken house made so we can move everyone in there and just have 1 "main" pen for everyone, and a "spare" pen for my hobby chickens. My DH is a easy-peasy kinda git 'er done sorta guy too

I was just complaining explaining to DH that we MUST get going on the chicken move and garden - everyone has some of their garden planted except me

. We are wiped out today, trying to recover from feeding and entertaining 30 people plus piles of special needs kids yesterday.

I just now put some gluten free steel cut outs on the stove. If it was sunny, we'd be moving MUCH faster, but geesh- how's someone supposed to get going in drizzly weather like this????

Don't you think the Monday after we "spring forward" should be a holiday from work?

I believe Tony Albritton may have turkey poults for sale at the Monroe show this weekend.

Can't see the pic. But know the info. DD did the assignment then her Grandpa has it hanging in his shop. He has a thing for rattlesnakes he said they taste like chicken I said if they taste like chicken why not just eat CHICKEN!! You don't have to go to the hospital if they bite you!
DH says he has always worried about chicken fangs. He also asked if they are anything like chicken teeth?
