Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I believe Tony Albritton may have turkey poults for sale at the Monroe show this weekend.

hmm I am in tacoma. that is a long drive considering I am having issues leaving my house (mental health issues/agoraphobia).
I think i'll see about when i have to go babysit if i can manage to pick some up from dels then. I have to stop and pick up puppy shots anyway.
was just hoping someone close by was ordering some or had some they were wanting to get rid of.

Poor babies. They didn't deserve it

No they didn't and I'm pretty sure she's going to take off as soon as i get to my moms this week. SHe lives there, and knows I'll kick her butt for hurting an animal. she says it was an accident but i just dont buy it. I think she thought i'd come down that day to get the turkey poults from her. I am not going from north tacoma to tenino just to pick up turkeys to raise for a month or two for them.

Had to show you our "chick-a-vision" in the living room. We can sit on the couch and watch the babies and entertain ourselves. ALMOST as fun as Netflix.

They took right to the water bottle we made with one of the nipples- almost having a contest to see who could drink from it first!. We put most of the chicks in the big brooder in the laundry room, but am/are usig this as the "medical care unit" because 2 of the babies from the breeder had pasty butt and needed to be watched, and the little guy with the crooked foot was in here. Everyone is doing peachy now, but we hate to move them to the laundry room! (hmmm.....how big a fish tank can we fit in here...???)

I think we'll make them a cute little roost today- they are really full of themselves- jumping up on stuff. That's probably about as ambitious as this day will get !

Is anyone ordering chicks, ducklings, or poults from any hatchery anytime soon? I want some turkey poults but cannot afford the shipping price or to buy 25 of them. Plus I only want 2 or 3 of them.
Otherwise i'll take my chances with a feedstore poult. I never have good luck with the ones from feedstores.
Are you going to Monroe? If so Monroe farm and feed will be getting turkeys on the 15th. They are right next to the fair grounds.

I've got a dog-house conversion also- it's a temporary house for the newest batch of laying hens we got. and works like a charm, though not as nice looking as the other one. I will be glad to get the big chicken house made so we can move everyone in there and just have 1 "main" pen for everyone, and a "spare" pen for my hobby chickens. My DH is a easy-peasy kinda git 'er done sorta guy too

I was just complaining explaining to DH that we MUST get going on the chicken move and garden - everyone has some of their garden planted except me

. We are wiped out today, trying to recover from feeding and entertaining 30 people plus piles of special needs kids yesterday.

I just now put some gluten free steel cut outs on the stove. If it was sunny, we'd be moving MUCH faster, but geesh- how's someone supposed to get going in drizzly weather like this????

Don't you think the Monday after we "spring forward" should be a holiday from work?
I too need to get stuff planted. My truck issues the last 2 weeks has set me behind on garden work. I still have 1/4 of my garden to de-weed and mix in manure. Then add compost and start planting.

As for my pen...I still have to remove the dog house, clean it, get nest boxes set, add a roost, figure out if I'm replacing any siding, then I have to do the digging around the outside to add fencing for security. Oh yeah, and I have to get the hardware fabric to secure the trampoline/tractor.

So much to do...so little time!!!

Well, unless I'm missing something, I think it's safe to say we use shows like the one in Monroe on Sat., or the one in Vancouver next month to do some pretty good sized get togethers. They are nice enough to allow us to do a two-fer. Are you planning to go to either of those? It's great fun to meet everyone and take part in a pot luck.

Next Saturday in Monroe? I think I can make it. Can you tell me more about where the location is, etc? I would love to come check it out! Plus I'm a personal chef, so I can bring something yummy for the pot luck?
