What are your thoughts on using sand inside a pen or pine savings? I know the pine is easier to haul, but the sand would last longer, right?

Sand def lasts longer, and can be a lot cleaner.... But it is a big $$ commitment to begin with and I kinda shot my 'chicken' budget already ;-)

I was talking to my brooder GF the other day about helping me with my house/coop. Any thoughts about raising it above ground? Currently it is on a pallet to keep it off the dirt. Would it be wise to put it up on cinder blocks to give the girls a place to "hide" when they don't want to be in the coop? So much to think about now that I'm more aware of these things than I was 20 years ago.

TJ's doesn't carry Daiya. Safeway, Top Foods, Fred Meyers, Oly Co-op, and just about every other grocer does, but TJ's has their opwn unique products (no daiya-type cheeses)

So today I bought a tablet/computer thing from best buy! This thing is so darn cool I Love it. It is called the "Surface" . This is the new windows tablet. With that I am still feeling this out and figuring out how to post to this site. The fact that this comes with a cooler than heck detachable key board makes things so much easier than just a tablet. Ok this will seem like a run on paragraph because I can't get the enter key to work, might have to trade the key board in for a different one no biggy. Anyways, in Auburn someone has SPLASH AMERAUCANAS or EEs. which ever they are I want them so badly but there is no way I can drive to Auburn for them. They are $25 each and I found them on CL if anyone wants to get them. Oh I am getting so excited for this Saturday. Not only for seeing and meeting some of ya'll but DH is coming with me too!!!!! I have to head to bed now, but I will hop on tomorrow and chat a bit more. Night everyone.
