Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

GEE all you people just need to put on your "Coneheads" and I quarantee you will be easy to spot and everyone else will give you clear passage( as in standing a block away ) How do you think I manage?
There will be an Appenzeller Spitzhauben table at the show. I have volunteered to spend some of the day there.

robj... My CGG chicks are definitely in the dog kennel, but they're still in the house with their red light all warm and cozy where I can see and hear them.

What gives my mom the fodder for teasing me, and laughing her head off, is that they are in the Dining Room! You have to understand where she comes from... She's a child of the great depression, 9th child of a dirt poor family, lived in a one bedroom house in the poorest county in E. Washington. They worked like slaves and did everything in their power not to be considered low class. And you didn't bring animals in the house unless you were an Okie, an Arkie, or an Indian! (please don't anyone take offense... that's what it was like for her in the 1920s and 30s). So along comes Carolyn with chickens and a mom that loves to tease, so she keeps saying "Those birds are spoiled rotten." --- "Oh you'll have those chickens in the house pretty soon." --- "Oh, you'll be keeping chicks under the stove pretty soon." Stuff like that just to get a rise outta me. So FIRST I bring chicks into the laundry room, and NOW they've made it past the kitchen and into the Dining Room! EEEE GADS SHE WAS RIGHT!

I am going to be even more busy between now and the show. So I thought I would at least say hi.

I know I am missing a lot of things here, but it is all a blur now, and I am so tired.
Can't wait to see everyone at the show!
I will be showing one Silkie and a Faverolles. Not sure how they will do, but I need the experience.

See you all soon!

Kim... I'm looking forward to seeing you Saturday. Don't work to hard this week! And good luck showing your birds, too.

Got my hovabator set up on a nightstand in the corner of my room.... I thought about setting it up in the living room then I thought better of it. My 3 year old would find his way to PLAY with the eggs... He sure loves his chickens. Tomorrow I am gonna get a thermometer to place inside. I think I am just as excited as the kids are to hatch eggs. I cant wait! I also cant wait to FINALLY meet everyone from BYC after over a year of chatting it will be fun to put a face/name with your BYC names.

SadieSue.... Got luck with the hatch, actually I'm jealous. Wish I could be there to watch, too! I hope you're right about Dot and Honey being girls. I'd love to get 2 girls from the 3 chicks. I want to give one to my DDiL. Somewhere I'd gotten the idea that the comb on AMs wasn't a good indicator since they are pea combs. But I'm going to keep my eye on Dash now. I'll let you know! Gee... maybe we should start a pool. Anyone else have a guess?

Hinotori... I hope those eggs hatch well and the silkies will mother them well, good luck!

Good Night All!

OK, I feel better now. I am not the only one. My inlaws thought I was insane and how could you bring those inside. Let alone in the dining room. LOL

Don't worry, others of us have kept chicks in the house. We've had their brooder-playpen in the dining room, once in the family room, and most recently in the spare bedroom. Since we have cats now, we couldn't have the brooder in an area accessible to cats. Because I'm a sucker for tiny chicks that scream when you leave the room, I spent more than a month of my life in there. It would've been a lot easier if they were in an area frequented by all of the humans (like the dining room or family room). So don't worry, I'm sure you won't reach my level of crazy!
