Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

OK, I feel better now. I am not the only one. My inlaws thought I was insane and how could you bring those inside. Let alone in the dining room. LOL
My babies are at my brooder GF's in her office that's right off the living room. You can hear them while you watch TV. I spend so much time over there....sometimes I think I should just move in until they are ready to go outside. But if I did that then I wouldn't get the pen ready. Oh the choices we make for our babies.

Chickielady- unsure if you know, but if you are buying lots of GF products, such as Pamela's bread mix, you can get it WAY cheaper buying on Amazon. I just looked and the Pamela's bread mix is even on their "subscribe and save" program. I subscribe to many supplements and GF foods - and when they are ready to ship out the next batch they send you an e-mail in advance, in case you need to skip an order.

For instance: I was at Whole Foods last week and Bob's Red Mill certified GF oatmeal was $6.50 for the 2 lb bag.
Amazon has it for 1/2 that price- $15.12 for 4 of the 2 lb pkgs. ($3.80 per bag)

their Pamela's GF baking mix comes in various sizes- bulk, 19 oz size, etc- check it out!

I love, love, love paying $79.99 annually to have everything shipped to my door in 48 hours with NO shipping cost!!
The Amazon Prime movies and free Kindle downloads are just icing on the cake. (I downloaded a free kindle reader on my phone so can read anything offered on Kindle on my iphone...)

I think everyone who lives away from the big cities should have Amazon Prime !!

A note from your local math teacher...Tomorrow is pi day! (3-14 3.14 See?) My 6th graders are learning how to find the circumference of a circle right now, so it works out well for us. I'm making a bunch of banana pudding pies tonight so we can celebrate tomorrow.

So, eat some pie tomorrow and celebrate pi day!

I just came in from feeding the horses and treasure hunting in the upper pasture, stopped to make sure the chicklets had enough food and water for the evening and Sophia was sleeping in the temporary food tray. I moved her out of it and noticed that her breathing is kind of labored and her wings are down? (Not sure how to describe it) She was fine earlier today when I spent my usual time in there. I mentioned it to DH and he tells me that our 5 yo had the dogs in the coop while I was in the barn and he was working on DD's car. One is a smaller pup, the other is a 170 lb Mastiff.

I don't know if maybe she got stepped on? I guess I will bring her in for the night, but when I told him how she was acting, he said he doesn't think she will make it. I am praying that she does.

Tomorrow morning I will be putting a latch much higher on the door to prevent any further mischief. I am so disappointed right now. UGH.

However, on a more positive note, a local feed store is having a giveaway on Facebook and the winner gets 6 chicks and a 10 lb bag of chick starter.

I need to have about 30 hens all together if I want to try to sell some of the eggs, so that would be awesome. I have 11 right now.

Does anyone want hatching eggs and have room in their incubator for a few more? I'm impatiently waiting for one of my hens to go broody so I can hatch chicks myself but something went wrong with the dozen eggs someone took from me and I'm curious to know if it was just the time of year (some of the first eggs of the year) or is it something else wrong on my end. Your welcome to do what ever you wish with the resultung chicks, they are mutt chickens and should lay shades of green when older. All I want to know is if they hatch.
All the chicks in the previous batch quit developing after day 15 or so. I am very new to hatching eggs and I was so excited to finally see chicks from my flock, the report about all dead chicks was very disappointing.

I hope your chick is ok. Keep us posted on how she is doing.

Our first dozen eggs! All from Marie, the bantam EE. The bowl they're all in is tiny.
Man those are some beautiful blue eggs. Also what ever camera you use plus the apparent talent you have for photography really make those eggs look great.
