Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Dang, gone already!! That was really quick.
Thank you RainMom for thinking of me, I really appreciate it.
on CL, everything goes sooooo fast- except the old broken, stained, cat-clawed couches, those are frequently reposted over and over, and over...
does anyone actually think someone else wants their trashed furniture?

I've been meaning to tell you about something really weird that happened a few days ago. I was sitting on the floor in front of the chick's pen, holding one of the chicks. On the other side of the pen is a set of French Doors. All of a sudden a hawk comes plunging out of no where, feet extended in front, ready to make a grab! At the last moment he pulls up and his claws just barely touch the window glass. So I'm staring at his red breast feathers and his feet for a split second before he flies off to the neighbors yard. This hawk thought he was going to nab a couple of juicy little chicks! Wow... I've never been that close to an attacking bird. I'm so lucky we were in the house with the doors closed!
wow! scarey and sort of exciting at the same time!

We've been waiting for our SLW, Ada, to start laying. She's the only hold-out. Then this morning Mr. Bear found a hidden clutch of four eggs behind the garage! Silly hen. Why can't she use the nesting boxes like everyone else?
Ada is obviously asserting herself to be a unique individual. She's also probably trying to lay enough eggs to sit on.....

My SLW (Lacey, who looks awesome in her purple quilted chicken saddle) is rather stand-offish and individual too. maybe it's their nature?

The GLW is still sitting on the clutch of 11 eggs- due to hatch in the next 2-3 days.

pbjls: please put me on the list for chicken culling/processing (2 people); and I want to order just 2 meaties from you - have no room to grow our own. What is the date? You are in Monroe area,is that right? thanks, Oh, and I will bring a salad for the potluck.

, I bet you see this in your dreams for a few nights. Yikes!

while I am glad you did not loose any birds, that sounds really cool to get to see a hawk like that.

I actually had a coyote in the back yard about 20 yards from the house at 11 am about 2 weeks ago. he is only still alive because someone moved my gun and by the time I got it he was out of range.

TY! Yes, Black Australorps. Would that be the Wilco in Gig Harbor?
I went to the PNPA website but they only have a temporary directory with a few folks on it. I did not see Kevin Noorlander.
Is he on BYC?   Thanks again.  ~Dee~

The Wilco I was talking about is my home town one of Battle Ground.

I don't think Kevin is on here, I wish I had TE contact info, I'd just email the webmaster or secretary of PNPA and ask they could put you on right track.
