Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

So, this morning I went into the "chick room" and the girls seems to be getting along better. Niqui is the top bird of the pair, so I wonder who will be top hen when all 5 are in the coop. I opened the crate and they were talking to me, watching me, but staying in the crate. I put a towel on my leg (to keep the "goop" off my jeans) and took Fluffy out. She seems very comfortable being picked up now. I've started scratching their ribs and bellies and not picking them up each time so they don't always feel like they need to run away from the hand. Fluffy started preening her feathers while in my lap. Next thing I know Niqui has flown the 2 feet from the crate to my lap also. They both settled into preening quietly on my lap for about 5 minutes. So nice they feel so comfortable with me.

I got home close to midnight last night (work till 11pm) and when I went upstairs the chick room light was off. Looked at my phone and found a text from the hubby saying he had to turn the light off as they were too noisy. LOL!!! Perhaps this will motivate him to get the pen roof done sooner rather than later????

My GF brooder is in Phoenix after her fathers passing, so I will be going to her place on Monday to spend some time with my 3 girls still at her house. Her hubby stayed home (finances and 4 dogs/3 cats/2 hens/6chicks) so I will help with the care.

I will try to post more pics of my girls in the next couple of days.

Well, broke two eggs today, first in a long, long time: one I butter-fingered getting it out of the apple picker (some places in the hoop house require stern tactics) the other I put in my coat pocket, tripped over my own feet, and ran into a bit of the shrubbery while trying to get a good shot of a lilac bud.

Oh, well: two out of nine, I guess I'll survive. Also, since the latter one was in my pocket, which was clean, I'll have it for dinner. Since I was going to make meatloaf for my husband and then had a hour and a half detour into vacuum-cleaner wrestling instead.

I will not detail the hideous and terrible aspects of that event except to say that there was a slug on top of the shopvac and I put my hand on it , and after I used the shopvac to vacuum out the bag-chamber of the brand new cannister vac (the previous one having died of not having the bag changed often enough: another one of those jobs which is mine by default no matter who fills the darned thing) I had to stretch out the 100 foot heavy-duty grounded extension cord (which had another slug at about the 45 foot point) because people-not-me have been unspooling the first few feet, using the vac, and then just sort of wadding the cord back up any old how.

I am displeased.

Hello Everybody.

Does anyone know of any business that orders their chicks from Privett Hatchery? I was planning to buy 3 BA pullet chicks Friday but my Co-Op cancelled their order for 50. Said they have 200 chicks leftover from the last order and don't have room for more. So it really screwed up my plans. They won't order BA's for another month but I don't want to wait that long. Plus now I don't have a lot of faith in them as that is the second time they changed their ordering plans on me. Any help is really appreciated. Thank you! ~Dee~

Wilco does, but I don't know if its just our store or if its all of them.

Edit: if BA stands for Black Australorps I would contact Kevin Noorlander through the PNPA. He has beautiful Australorps.

Bothell Feed Supply uses 2 or 3 different ones including Privett. It is listed on their website as to what is coming next and which hatchery they are from

Graham Hay Market uses Privett Hatchery, and they get new shipments every week through August. Last weekend I think I remember seeing BA's in stock.
