Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

if people are looking for nipple drinkers I have quite a few. I can either mount them in buckets for you or send them to you in the mail for you to mount onto buckets, bottles, or pvc. I have a heavier duty for adult birds and a little smaller one that is good for chicks. 3.00 each plus exact postage, or buckets with three mounted in the bottom(buckets have lids and handles) 1 for 15 or two for 25 at the farm.

I know that hens are attracked to pecking at blood, so I want to get it under control before the new hens arrive!
It is an attraction to pecking at RED, as in RED, and anything red is going to attract their attention, get rid of the red and all is good !
The easiest way to get rid of RED is to have red light bulbs~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hi, everyone! The end of an exhausting day in the middle of an exhausting week at the end of an exhausting month. It was great to come home and get on BYC and read about everyone's coops, chicks, jokes, and eggs. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'm going to go and take some treats to my own girls now. Thanks for the pick-me-up!

Jessica, I too am now free of mites. I think I dusted myself more than all the chickens. Hahaha

Has anyone heard from Nikki99. Haven't seen her on since the South End meet-up.

Looks like I may be putting Elphaba down this weekend if she does not show signs of improvement. She has been dusted twice now. I think she has some underlying issue and can't figure it out without a necropsy.

Oh I'm so glad you're now mite free, great news! LOL!

Sorry about your hen. Have you thought of treating with Eprinex since dusting didn't work? I have some but you'd have to come get it ;)

Couldn't have built this (or even known how) without this website. SO PUMPED for my coop. Since this pic I've framed in the roof, covered the floor in hardware cloth, and covered with 5/8 minus and then coarse river sand. Chicks spent their first night in the coop last night!

Absolutely Gorgeous! I love the look of your coop. Those wide-swinging doors are going to make cleaning SO easy!
So glad you shared! Welcome!

So pretty, what color of red did you use?

there is two more for the list of attendies for the processing and pulled pork pot luck.
honeysucklehills
dawng
tacomafarms
and of course me
I am totally interested, but don't have the room to raise any chicks, and not sure about finances right now as my truck has taken a BIG chunck out of my spending money. If someone has the space to raise 10 for me I will buy them and feed to help with cost of raising them.

OK, I now have a mental picture of what to look for, if I find an uptight, rigid unbending hen, she's the one that's not laying?
Thanks VF, I do understand what you're saying, should be easy to determine. (after I catch the chicken, will one of you come over and film this. Should be really good viewing and laughter at the next meet up)
