Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Greg; please with the politics can you curb it just a tad? Many of us have made a comment or two on this forum and mostly it is tied into an ongoing discussion, but you seem to have forgotten that this is not a political forum. Lord knows I go to plenty of them, but come here to interact with all the others about chickens, our lives as they revolve around our girls.

Please don't take offense, none is intended.

I feel the need to Interrupt your chirping for this public service announcement....................

The Haircut

Blessed are those who can give without remembering, and take without forgetting.

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber
replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week. 'The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot
accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop.
The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts
waiting for him at his door.

Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied,
'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Congressman was very happy and left the shop. The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

BOTH POLITICIANS AND DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON!

We now return you to your regular chirping program.
Mikey.... this forum has always had a bit of an edge to it, you know that, this is a social forum it's not all about chickens..... and yes the political stuff is subject to interpretation, but, come on now? I know you have spoke about supposed "off topic" issues....

Hey, guys...I had to share this one. Hope you find it as funny as I did.

In science, I've been teaching my 6th graders about energy transfer, and we did the traditional "egg fling" experiment using my home-grown eggs. Each group had to devise a contraption to keep their egg from breaking when we threw it onto the cement. The kids did a great job. Out of 10 groups, we only had 2 broken eggs.

When we came in from egg-flinging and were working on the write-up, a kid asked me, "I know they won't, because they've been in the fridge, but if they could hatch, I bet the chicks would be really deformed." I responded that if the eggs hatched, it would be a MIRACLE, because I don't have a rooster. Took the kid a couple minutes to get what I was saying!

These aren't even city slicker kids. You don't get a whole lot more "out in the country" than Morton! Maybe we need a new course of study in science after Spring Break...

Uh yea!! Good job! Great experiment! Thats ok, most of the country has no idea how they get their food or probably care for that matter! I think it's time the whole country gets an education! Cause they ain't "smarter than a 6th grader"! LOL!

Perhaps I was being a tad grouchy old man last night. Yes, I know this forum touches on a lot of topics and I myself have posted political leaning comments.
If I offended, I apologize.

I know what you need!! A big plate of pierogi's which I think I just might make today!! What are your favorite kind? I love the cheese and potato

I thought maybe Welsh Harlequin. Of all the ducks I've looked at/read about, those are my favorites so far. If I were to ever get any, which I won't since we're in the middle of the city and full up with chickens, it would be the WH. Very pretty ducks. I'm glad you're getting more, but sad you lost Ducky Doo.

The kids thought they were cool... The koolaid sorda left a sugar film on them that bubbles and will rub off when wet. It gives a very cool effect to them
Those are pretty colors! So now I've got to dye some with natural colors to show you what cool colors you can get from "organic" ingredients.

For instance, boiling white eggs in a pan of those paper onion skins from yellow onions makes them a maroon color.
Using Chlorella (available in bulk section of Whole Foods), makes them an amazing dark green.
Tumeric makes them bright orangish-yellow.

I've only got one white egg layer right now, so have to BUY eggs (how weird does that feel?) to dye for Easter
