Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

So I went out to feed everyone this morning, and when I got to the tractor holding the "meat group" I only see 4 of the 5 birds supposed to be in there. I notice the dog food bowl tipped over and thought no way a chicken was under that. Sure enough, #5 was under it all night. Dumb chicken. Good thing it wasn't too cold last night. Everyone says these cornish x are dumb and now I believe it.

Under the dog food bowl. Funny. was it a chick or full grown?

Okay, since we got our corgi a couple months ago, we've been trying lots of different treats to see what she likes. Some she likes more than others, but from watching her in the yard, I'd say what they really need to make to suit her taste is a treat that tastes like chicken poop. Oh, and I'd like some chew toys that smell like old shoes, too.

You forgot the kitty litter treats.

FirewifeJess I kind of agree with you. It seems like a lot but I think we still go with 4x8

Oops hit send before I was done.
Go with 4x8. We had a 4x5 foundation already made from an old project. I was hoping we could just use that. I'll just take it apart and reuse the material. :) I wish we could let them free range. :( our neighbors dog comes over to visit a lot. She is a very sweet dog and no trouble but I don't know how she would react to the girls.
Nikki1 room for more is perfect! we got a mixed flock of birds. I seem to have fallen in love with our barred rock chick. So calm, curious, and trusting she is. I may sneak down to the farm store and buy a few more while the hubby is at work. It's my birthday so I'll tell him it's my present. :)

I am so bummed. I ended up not being able to find a single friend who was interested in checking out the show with me today. It seemed like the general reaction was "Chickens?? Why do you want to go look at Chickens??"

I really hate going places by myself, I feel like I'm walking around looking like I have no idea where I am or why I'm there. Social anxiety and whatnot.

Also, the corgi pics are so cute!

When we were deciding on which breed to get I really wanted a Corgi but we couldn't find any breeders near us. A Dachshund was my second choice so that's how I ended up with Cricket. But I love him all the same.

Good morning everyone! Off to habitat for humanity to find some odds and ends for the new coop. Can't wait to see our new chicks in it. We are planning it to be 4x5 for 6 birds. Is this big enough for our girls?

I didn't know until I saw this post that Habitat For Humanity had stores! I googled it and sure enough there's even one really close by to us and I have never even noticed it!

Happy Birthday. The birthday guru brought me 2 incubators a few weeks ago. I have a bunch of Silver Laced Wyandottes, and some other eggs in it. Can not wait until the 26 when hatch is due. My first.

You are close enough to me that you should come see my stuff before you build yours.

I'd also recremend 4x8 if you can - good size cuz of what size lumber is when you buy it.

I even have a chicken coop book you can borrow :)
Just what I was going to say VF, dimensional all the way if you can. For the size she first said 4 chickens at most.

No, I looked up Oyster mushrooms and we do not have those...they only grow on Oak, right ?

We have a few Morels, no Chantrelles.
So far...............but I have not pursued harvesting any of them...I am no shroom guru............

We only pick the Morels because only they look like that, you can't poison yourself, just need to wash them very well because of all those little chambers. Always remember to leave the base behind so they can regrow for next year. I just found a recipe for morel cream sauce over salmon, sounded like something you should try.
