Hey guys. I have 6 chicks about 9 days old. One of our RIR checks is just not growing. She hasn't produced any new feathers since I brought her home making her total 2 feathers on each wing. She is about the size of a tennis ball. She looks tired. Her eyes are not as wide and bright as the other birds. She peeps pretty consistently and doesn't scratch like the other chicks. The other chicks tower over her. Whats going on with our Shirley?

Go with 4x8. We had a 4x5 foundation already made from an old project. I was hoping we could just use that. I'll just take it apart and reuse the material.

I wish we could let them free range.

our neighbors dog comes over to visit a lot. She is a very sweet dog and no trouble but I don't know how she would react to the girls.
Nikki1 room for more is perfect! we got a mixed flock of birds. I seem to have fallen in love with our barred rock chick. So calm, curious, and trusting she is. I may sneak down to the farm store and buy a few more while the hubby is at work. It's my birthday so I'll tell him it's my present.

). We're going to lay Minnow to rest under last year's Christmas tree that we never got around to planting. She'll have a spot near Elf's tree.

I have a grove of cedar I bury my babies in. Every time I go for a walk on the property I try to find a rock to put on the graves. Looking for just the right rock seems to help sometimes when low.

Again, I am so sorry.

Our barred rock, Amelia, is our very coolest bird, too! She follows us around the yard like a feathery puppy, and she'll get up on our deck rail and peer in the kitchen window when she thinks she needs a treat. She also knows that gardening unearths treats, so whenever we dig she's right underfoot, and she'll snap up any insect/worm life that appears. Definitely take that trip to the farm store!

a am way behind so this will be quick

and for those that asked the turkeys have a burbon tom over borbon, slate, and Narragansett hens.
several are out and several more piping. there are about 30 in the first group. I have 60 more that lock down in 5 days and then two batches of about 100 following that. I will get about a hundred to hundred and twenty per week for three more weeks. I am hopeing for close to 500 hatched by the first week of June.
Are you taking orders for these turkeys? If so, when will they be ready for those placing orders? What do you charge?
