Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

In the meantime, how do you relocate a broody hen? When? And do some of you not move them at all?

Depending on the chicken, I might not relocate until the eggs actually hatch.

If the hen is bound and determined to get to a certain place, there is not much you can do to change their mind.

Our Ameraucana, Blueberry, is broody and has been sitting on nothing for a week. I tried to get her to move to the broody coop; she pacing and knocking the ceramic eggs around to get back to her 'safe place' (or what she considers safe!) So I let her go back where she is comfortable. Now she has real eggs and once they hatch, I'll move her to the broody coop so they can actually move around.

BTW I forgot to tell the best/worst part of the trip to Vancouver. Friday on the way down we had just passed Longview. Setting alongside the freeway was a small shed looked like about 6x6 may have even been a cedar. It was a nice looking shed looked like could have made a nice small coop. What really sucked was that there was no room for me to pull over with the truck and trailer. I also didn't have room to haul the shed and no tools to disassemble.

And to top it off I didn't have phone #'s for anybody in the area who I could call to go get it.

Do it in the pitch black of night...and never relocate a hen on real eggs :( I tried Lucy in January and she paced all night, off her wood eggs, but finally accepted the move a few days later when I gave her chicks, simply because she wanted to stay where they were. I don't plan to move my broody this time because I will just put her in the new coop when It arrives with chicks at night.

Bummer!! That would be cool to get another free coop!!

My sympathize to the people being bullied about selling on the site. I've only been on this site a week or so but I haven't seen anything inappropriate in my opinion. Hope this all gets resolved soon!
Mikeyb- I work in a nursing home.(no I won't be posting a link to it. :p ) the residents there LOVE a cup of coffee with coco in it. They call it a coffee mocha. Lol. Have a good day all!

Imagine how I felt going past a few hours later in a stupid useless Camry! It was a shed looking for a home, it was!

Is anyone else having trouble with this site freezing their browser? I was having a little trouble with the Washingtonians thread off and on, but yesterday I was looking for that rooster I need on the "Chickens Eight Weeks and Up" thread and couldn't move between pages nor open the individual posts without having to hard reboot; No trouble on other sites, not even Facebook which had been grumpy all last week.

Also, in case y'all missed it: I'm looking for a breeding age Ameraucana rooster, any color, ASAP.

Well, I don't know if they took down my last post about the chickens I have that need homes. But I made the mistake of saying it was a list of the ones I was selling. Well I am on CL but here they are free to my peeps here. I just ment that those were the ones that were going and availible. So I got in trouble, never had that problem before but they must be watching us more closely here now sense someone unjustly taddled on Greg. So watch out everyone we need to behave.

PM me and let me know if you guys need the list again. But like I said my roosters and chickens are free to my BYC peepers here!

Hope ya'll are well. Really busy so PM me about chickens or if ya just wanna say HELLO! Miss you guys, hope to be on here more, sooner than later.

Wanted to show you this....remember I have a "sport" Crele Chantecler ???????????? Wellll, he was lonely, so 6 mo ago I gave him a Black Copper hen for company...and hatched this out: HE IS SO PRETTY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE IS PRETTY-ER than his Daddy ! Here is his Daddy: Notice, Daddy's colora are not near as VIBRANT, as the Marans' son, and Dady has that awful white on his tail AND a light (but barred) breast.......... COOL....so now I have a full blown marans Crele project AND a Chantecler Crele project...and will have scores of eggs I gotta hatch to get just the perfect ones.....................
Ooh! I just love the Crele coloring. These boys are beautiful.
