In the meantime, how do you relocate a broody hen? When? And do some of you not move them at all?
Depending on the chicken, I might not relocate until the eggs actually hatch.
If the hen is bound and determined to get to a certain place, there is not much you can do to change their mind.
Our Ameraucana, Blueberry, is broody and has been sitting on nothing for a week. I tried to get her to move to the broody coop; she pacing and knocking the ceramic eggs around to get back to her 'safe place' (or what she considers safe!) So I let her go back where she is comfortable. Now she has real eggs and once they hatch, I'll move her to the broody coop so they can actually move around.
I tried Lucy in January and she paced all night, off her wood eggs, but finally accepted the move a few days later when I gave her chicks, simply because she wanted to stay where they were. I don't plan to move my broody this time because I will just put her in the new coop when It arrives with chicks at night.
) the residents there LOVE a cup of coffee with coco in it. They call it a coffee mocha. Lol. Have a good day all!
