Once again my plans for chicken coop construction and landscape maintenance were scuttled by the fact that I was out of several critical sorts of clothing and, not coincidentally, could not walk through the laundry basket corner of the bedroom.

And that the lone still-pregnant cow was in a corner of the place which is not visible until one is there; being as how it's sunny, it was not the corner where one can walk in the shade, either. And she's still pregnant.

You need a very tall "spy" tower...equipped with a telescope~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~and elevator !!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey CL they are very cute, I have a dozen to let go, keeping a bunch more, eggs up to my ears, girls are on a roll I tell ya!!

thats kind of the story I am getting from most folks, guess the rush to buy chicks has come and gone lol. still have them. mine are cheap at 10 bucks, you should see what the other breeders get for theirs! sheeeze!! well if you know anyone interested send them my way. I still have eggs, lots of eggs.... and one more round of hatching to do with some shipped eggs. hey what do you think I would end up with if I crossed a cornish on some big orp hens? giant meat birds?

but, can you clarify what you mean its horrible? there are two different orps here in the states, the american variety and the imports from the UK. the imports are supposed to be fluffy. as that is what we want, we want the original English type, I dont care for the American type as I think they kind of plain looking, the one in my profile pic is 100% import. and that is the UK type. she wont win at any shows here but thats ok, I dont mind, its what I prefer. the original. none of mine look like cochins either...

This is a Black java Pullet....and I think she is perfect, but there are some who insist she has too short of shanks as you mentioned of your English Orpingtons.
As she grew, she did lengthen her shanks a little, but not much more.
Just sayin'

There was one guy (who I greatly dislike) that said it was a horrific example of a Black Java, and looked more like a Black Australorp, or English Orpington !!!!!!!!!!!

Blueberry teaches her chicks how to take a dust bath! This is the first time since they were hatched that Blueberry has been able to take a dust bath. One of the babies learned right away! The others just tried to stay out of the way. Towards the end, one of the d'Uccle chicks simply had enough and fell asleep in the middle of everything

Today's going to be a beast, I didn't go to bed until the incubator temps had restabilized after starting lockdown, and then Franklin basically didn't go to bed at all, and somehow left the back door and the laundry room door open, so his cat's outside. And I kept wanting to get up and check the incubator and then falling back to a chilly sleep and my joints ache from the cold. And I still have two more loads* of laundry to do, besides the cleaning of stage 1 brooders: plastic tubs.

*at least two more; if it clears up enoughto use the clothesline, I need towas my bathrobe and some towels.

Yes !!!!!!!!!!!!
The issue is you would have to use a Cornish hen with an Eng Orp Cock...cuz a Cornish Cock could never "reach" the target if ya know what I mean...unless you "milked" him & did AI on the hen.....You would no doubt have to clip the Eng Orp's fluff as well.........What about a 18 pound Jersey Giant Cock over Cornish hens ??????????
They'd be huge, and no doubt take longer to develope than a Cornish Rock cross....how funny !
