Overnights been in the High 20 ies here Chehalis area, since Tuesday mornings are 28. BURRR. the daytimes more Normal around 50.
1. How does Such a temp difference affect Chickens overall.?
our Main Coop is open @ roof height ( think Vaulted Ceilings
) basically a Corrugated roof that is raised a few inches from roof line, top is open coved with Roof cap running total length. two shortest sides open @ top about 4" x 12 " ( we will cover that till it gets warmer )
2. Is this too much
ventilation for our winters ? this is our first winter chicken keeping.

So did anyone here show in Chehalis that was not NPIP tested before the show? If so, did they test your birds at the show? I am dying to know how that all works since I have a very small flock but I really want to show my birds next year. I don't think I have enough birds to test...this time I simply didn't have time to get it done before the show...and ended up not being able to go (cousin's wedding I forgot was the same day, whoops!).

So long as they are dry and out of the wind, they're good. They are wrapped up in little feather comforters. Ventilation is important even in winter. Moisture build up can cause frostbite problems. I wouldn't cover the ventilation holes. I've had birds sleep in trees with single digit temps and no problems.

My flock is not NPIP tested. it's too small. I've never been tested at a show, but they have the option to if they want. I wouldn't mind in the least if they tested.

I am not currently NPIP, not enough birds right now. As far as I know they did not test my birds but they DO reserve the right to (after judging according to their catalog). I also would have no issue with my birds being tested one site.
