I think this is another good reason I'm glad I use sand.![]()
Here are my two new kids. We got a new cockerel last weekend. He's 8 weeks old but should grow up to be a beauty. The black pullet is a rumpless BCM olive egger. Despite being advised against rescuing chickens, she was a rescue. She has a bad leg but is getting better and is learning how to walk/run again. She does not know she's a chicken. Every evening she comes up to the back door and walks into the house so she can sleep in her cage in the family room. Very sweet girl, but I hope she learns to socialize with the other pullets soon.![]()

I have Thai's here who would LOVE some Black Cheeekin !They are very pretty. And I'm sure you'll be glad of a hen that is super friendly. Until she constantly flies up on you when you bend over. I have a couple like that.
You need more cockerels?![]()
I have a bit to go before these boys are big enough to eat. They are such greedy guts, though.
Too Many ?So I've decided that I'll be taking the five EE pullets to the swap next month. They'll be 4 months old then. I just have to many chickens and need to reduce it down some.
Man oh man what an absolutely gorgeous place you have !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Hello,
I recently joined BYC, but have been lurking on and off for over a year planing out my jump into raising chickens. I am in Washougal, WA. My 7 chicks are now 7 and 8 weeks old, (one turned out to be a Cockrell). I have 2 Barred Rock's, 2 Golden Laced Wyondottes, 2 Marans and a Light Brahma.
Just finished the coop a couple weeks ago and got the chicks in their new home and they seem happy.
I have found so much good information on this site, I don't know how I could have built the coop with out all the good ideas I found here, so Thanks!
