I ended up with a Pekin hen when I purchased the Call ducks she is bonded with and I would like to find her another hen as a companion. I can't give her a drake because she is with bantam ducks and I do not want crossbreeds. We are eating her eggs and can continue to do so but I hatch the bantam eggs and don't want a drake potentially mating with my bantam hens in the yard. Right now she is in a breeder pen with the Calls but I want to put her in the yard with one of her own kind. I thought I had found a hen for her but someone else was able to drive down for her before me so I lost the opportunity. Does anyone have Pekins? They are not my favorite but I thought I would give her a try. I will need to get her bonded with a different duck before I turn her out of the pen or else she will sit next to the pen to be near her current duck family. I have a temporary pen set up next to the breeder pen so I am going to try putting her in that with some Orpingtons but I would really like to find her a companion. If I keep her penned in the temporary pen she could have a drake if I can't find another hen and I could try hatching a companion for her but it would be nice to have an adult duck she can bond with right away when I separate her from the Calls. She is just too big next to my bantam ducks!
It is difficult to read without paragraphs...and my bifocals.
But I guess you are after another Pekin hen ?
If so, gimme a shout.

We had baby squirrels that we rescued once. They were adorable!

I saw the pictures !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO CUTE !!!

New pics of baby chippy & his strawberry:

This littl bugger is getting fat, sleek & clean & no fleas !!!
Still, he eats & sleeps, eats about every 4 hours round the clock: typical baby.
His first strawberry is his first solid food...and I still have not flipped him over to see if he is a he or not....

Loves cuddly touching...as if we are his Momma preening him...

Back to sleep he goes curled up in his flannel sheet~~~~~~~~~~~

I raised small animals for years and I always wanted a squirrel or chipmunk! They are so dang cute but at the same time they are "wild" animals and it would make me sad to see one in a cage. Chippy is so dang cute in the bucket bed. Will you be releasing him back outside once he is able to fend for himself? I am sure he would stick around and be an outdoor "pet" that would visit often. I have been able to pet wild squirrels, marmots, and raccoons that were "tame" and not afraid of people.

I am amazed at how many people in our area have money to burn. What a waste! If people put as much money into a charity as they do into a night of terror for anyone with PTSD (which includes most of the people who fought for their celebrated freedom), they could actually do some good instead of making Americans look like idiots with their noise and smoke. Sadly, this has already been going on non-stop for more than 4 hours and it will continue until the early hours of the morning. People were shooting off fireworks through the night last night, regardless of the fact that most people want to sleep between midnight and 3am rather than being woken up from sleep by explosions. My husband could not sleep last night so tonight he had to wear ear plugs to bed. I am usually up until 3am but it still irritates me how inconsiderate people are with their noisemakers. I suppose that is the American way and it is no wonder we are considered the rudest society in the world.

I gladly put up with the noise when I remember my grandfather who never came home from fighting Hitler.
I gladly put up with the noise knowing I live free because of the sacrifice of many.
My Brother has fought but does not begrudge those who want to celebrate.
We are not idiots because we celebrate freedom.
We have friends in Ukraine right now that are terrified because they are back to fighting for what we enjoy daily.
Lest we forget the reason for the noise and smoke...

I am very greatful living in a country with the many freedoms we have compared to so many others thanks to those who have fought for us and our country,,,, but i do have to understand that sometimes we forget the common curtesy that continuing major firework all thru the night can excelerate the stress upon animals and the many who suffer from PTSD, not to mention that some folks do have to work the next day….
