Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Ok little nervous... I had to pull this little guy out. It was looking like it was drying to quickly I was right. :( so I went him down and helped him. Do you think it will be ok. There was no blood but it seems really tired.

Any idea on what to do now?

I had to do the same thing with a chick recently. Now named lucky and thriving! I did exactly what you did and left it in the bator for about 2 days. I still baby lucky though.

If they have already been in the coop for a few weeks you shouldn't have any trouble with them going back as soon as it starts to get dark.

LOL- the chicks have picked up my sleep cycles. They get VERY upset if I turn off the light before 2am. After 2 it's just a bit of quiet talking then asleep! Poor kids what will they do when it's winter ;)

thank you i worked as quickly and carefully as i could and put it back into the bator. i did at the same time remove it's sibling an adorable little blueish fluff that hatched through the night. i also turned the temp down and the humidity went up a little. little one is laying there breathing and when i shine the light on it , it chirps a little at me and flops into a new position as to tell me it is ok.

the whole time i was taking the shell off i was talking to it and now i talk to it through the bator. still have 15 left in their.... hopefully they are ok with having to open the bator to remove and replace the little one.

Do your hens respond to treats, i.e., come running when they see or hear the treats container? If they do it would reinforce that they appreciate their new home. They learn pretty fast and it sounds like they are comfortable with their new coop. If it were me I'd give it a try at least once.
All mine need to see is me with the big green feed scoop, sometimes full of scratch, sometimes not, but they come running all the same.
The older birds will come running even when they see me !

I hate looking for a place. Why is it so hard to find an AFFORDABLE 3 bdrm place that'll allow some backyard animals?

Because the human race is over breeding and there is little affordable places left where a single family can both raise it's own food and raise a family.
There is 3 kinds of places left here in the USA,
One is the cardboard cut out house, what we call 'suburbia', and the other is the HUGE HUGE rambling old family ranches, and Bless Their Hearts for hanging on to the family ranch.

As our population grows, land taxes grow and it is so hard to make a living off the land enough to pay the bloated property taxes, so many farmers and ranchers just cannot do it any more.

The 3rd, is the apartment complexes, which are horrible both on nature & on taxes.
This is where 99% of children live, yet it pays no property taxes which support schools, except for,//////////////////////////////
And sucks up $$$$$$in power & water and expells TONS of sewage in a TINY space of land.

You know what, I am NOT gonna open this bombshell any further.

There is another place you can look into, which is what I did, find a quiet little town, QUIET
And buy a scrap of land & build yourself a home.
Our fore fathers & mothers did it, I have done it 3 times.
The big deal is there is little place for most to earn a huge living.
So you need to live where you work.
Or give" it" up, and work where you live.
It being the fast-food user friendly electric American Dream.
There is always Alaska...and if I have to move one more freakin time, that is where I am going.

The first born!!!

Keep the babies warm, now.
Temptation is to take them out of the warmth & handle them.
Congrates on the baboes, but leave them be in the warmth for a few days if at all possible.
I leave mine in for a week or more (turning the temp down a FEW degrees a day, for a week or more IF I can..it makes them all the more stronger.
