Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Oh, I would love to meet some people in Kitsap. I'm new to the area and just lurking on this thread because well, I don't have any chickens yet. In fact, I've never owned one in my life. We are planning on building a coop over the winter and getting a few (or more) chicks in the spring.

That's exactly what I'm doing! *insert happy face emote here* I'm typing this at work...during my break of course...and they remove any sort of emote capability. HAHA! I've never had chickens but just built a coop, from a kit, and am trying to get a run built so I will be ready for some. We're in the same boat.

Carolyn, I know you posted some of these a few weeks back. I just felt the need to give the links : ) My family plans on attending the Feather Fancier in November. We have family who lives down there, and want to visit Mt. St. Helens that Sunday. We needed an excuse to get down there anyhow lol!

If I can talk hubby into spending the night, I might enter a few birds in the WFF show. Right now he doesn't want to. Maybe I can convince him that driving down Friday and Saturday is ok

Remind him that he can relax in a nice warm room while you're hanging out in that breezy barn! And if there's a pot luck there's sure to be SOMETHING yummy he likes, right?! Tell us his weak spots and we'll work on those! Bwahaha You NEED to go Kim!

Welcome! I glad we found something to lure you out into the open! Of course you're welcome to join in!

I think the event in Pt Orchard this weekend is a 4H fund raiser or something along those lines. I hope everyone remembers to wash up and change their shoes and such before returning to their own poultry pens / coops / brooders / yards etc. There are some very communicable poultry diseases going around and you definitely don't want to bring them home to your flock! Not only do the animals at events carry the viruses and bacteria, so do the pens, crates, boxes, bedding, shoes, and clothing of their owners.

Nothing to panic over! Just be aware and be smart.
