Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Charter what did wdfw say? My bear can hang out as long as it stays away from the birds, and hopefully the electric fence continues to work. If not, I'll try for a nuisance tag. Great grandma said bear fat makes the best devils food cake! I'm calling my extreme caution upon leaving the house being "bear-anoid"

Bearanoid nice! I like it! WDFW is coming out tomorrow. He said they discussed what to and his supervisor wants to try to trap them and relocate them. I hope this works.

Really Cute!

Thank you!

Well I took dd to her first 4H meeting. She is even more excited about it now! I want to get her bantams to start with. They went over breeds of chickens with her and she decided on black Cochin bantam preferably frizzled. Her words I swear! She got sucked into chickens quick!!! Lol now I have to try to find some of those chickens.... Are there any breeders around that happen to breed these things? I would rather order from a breeder than the hatcheries for 4H.

Well a lot of people are really afraid of the cougars which have been getting much more numerous in North West Washington, apparently they have eatin up most of the deer east of Mt Baker.

There's a poultry show coming up in Ridgefield WA Oct 18. Maybe you could meet breeders there if you don't have any luck here.

My latest hatch is finished! I had 11 out of 13 eggs hatch, most of which came from the fridge (wasn't a planned hatch, raccoon got one of my best hens and I wanted to make sure her genetics survived). For those of you that responded regarding dealing with the raccoon before thank you! I got him! Being only a few hours old they seemed huge compared to my last hatch but those were shipped eggs. I am excited to see how these grow out.

I hope they are as friendly and as productive as the parents were when they grow up, most of the eggs came from the hen on my profile picture. Everyday that I come home from work she lands on my arm for pets then flies back to the flock. I am going to have to find new homes from the yellow chicks before we leave next week for vacation.

Great hatch!

I'm really glad you got that raccoon pest.
