Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Well this morning was a doozy! I was locked in the run, in my pjs, for about 25 minutes!
The twine I ran from the inside to the latch outside just snapped, leaving me locked inside. No cell phone, no gloves, an my nearest neighbor just moved so no yelling for help when she let the horses out.

I built the sucker like a prison cell and there was no way out. Luckily I could reach a few twigs on the roof and used those to undo the latch.
Guess I'll be figuring out a better system while I warm up!

Of course this happens when it's so cold out! Glad you got out!

any one have any idea what this is, her neck feathers were wet from her eye leaking.

Wow, that’s quite the adventure! I'm sure that the chickens were entertained. :D MacGuyver would be proud of your prison break.

You might want to try the emergencies/diseases etc thread. Also posting any other symptoms along with I presume some sort of discharge from the eyes based on what you wrote. Any other chickens sick? This bird new to flock or did you recently add birds to your flock? Any trauma that you can see and is the discharge bilateral or only one side?

One of my cockerels decided to roost somewhere else a couple nights ago (figured out he was missing just before dusk, he wasn't in the coop with the rest of the flock). There weren't any feathers or signs of an attack that I could see. I searched the neighborhood/yards next door and couldn't find him. I also posted a craigslist ad in the off chance someone found him and checks there for a lost pet ad. Does anyone else have a recommendation of who to call? I live in Shoreline, WA. Do animal shelters take in chickens that are found loose(if anyone even bothered to call about it...). After two nights of below freezing temperatures I am doubting he will be coming home - he is 11 weeks old currently so fully feathered but not really big enough for me to have a lot of hope of him surviving on his own yet.

I hope you find him. I found my little lady gaga out on a stump recently. She spent one night out.
