Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hello all - in Kitsap we've had lots of rain and the forecast is showing more on the way, with cooler temps. My pullets are about 12 weeks old, so what should I be doing to care for them during this coming autumn weather? TIA
At 12 weeks old, they don't really need additional care. They're fully feathered, so they are now very cold tolerant. As long as they have some shelters throughout the run or a covered run, they should be fine.

Had to move my showgirl into the house last night when he and the brahma insisted upon roosting outside in the storm. I looked out the window and couldn't even decide what I was looking at with a soaking wet showgirl staring straight up into the rain with its feathers plastered down all over its body! What a goober ;)

I've heard of turkeys looking up into the sky as it rained and ended up drowning....or is that just an old wives' tale? I've heard this story so many times and then people saying that turkeys are dumb.

Our cable and internet went out shortly after I posted my question to ya'll. It was out for about 8 hours. They finally came back on about midnight. Other than that, we seemed to have fared pretty well.

No damage here, which is a surprise since we are on the side of a mountain. The truck was parked in front of the coop to act as a wind break, but the chickens all hid in the barn during the worst of the weather. We went out last night and put an extra tarp over the cockerel grow out pen so they were completely dry this morning. Need to get them moved out before winter sets in.

We didn't have any issues. I'd never removed the tarp that I put in front of the pens last fall to block wind. I found it makes a nice sun block too. It wont survive another but should be good for another couple months

A large large limb fell straight into my pavilion down by the river :( Quail are fine, just a little spooked. The river went up a foot or two tho, I think I lost my Crawdad trap...

Hello!
I'm moving to Graham Wa on a 8500sqft parcel and I was curious what the poultry laws for Graham were. I can't seem to find them anywhere online.

Thanks!

You may want to check with the county. I know where I'm at we're unincorporated which means we have no city laws. We go by county laws which are much more lenient than most city or town laws. If you go to the BYC home page there is a link about finding out about lacal laws and statutes. If nothing else try the health department.

Make sure they are dry, covered, have a wind break, a light (even a regular household light bulb, not CFL or LED), keep the food and bedding dry. Make sure you clean your coop well and dust for mites. Mites are really bad during fall and winter when the birds are molting and staying in doors more, on that note, make especially sure that less frequently used nesting boxes are well dusted for mites.
