While it is a good plan of sorts. There is a down side. By putting only one bird in you risk that lone bird getting picked on and also causing it more stress which could throw the results. What I do is I add all new birds at night. Does anyone do this? After the initial quarantine period is over, move only 1 bird from your existing flock over to live with the new birds for a while and see if the bird from your existing flock gets sick?
I'm tempted to do this with Rhodie. Quarantine the new birds for 30 days, and during that time get the 2nd coop/run done. THEN, move Rhodie in with the new birds and see what happens. Oh, can you imagine? Rhodie will instantly drop to the bottom of the flock order.Yes, I know... a little mean of me. But, I've never said I was always nice.![]()
