Hiw is the baby? One of my 3 month Olds had a broken leg when I got home yesterday. I'm guessing my big rooster chased her into the fence... we got her splinted and isolated. She seems to be in okay spirits, and ate a little melon and scrambled egg. Will have to see how she does. On the up side, it gave me an excuse to eat two Popsicles as I NEEDED the sticks! (NVM that husband then brought home a whole bag when he picked up the vet wrap)

She is still not doing every well, just sit in one spot. We placed water and food near her so she doesn't have to get up too much.

She is able to bend her leg back so I haven't place a splint on her.

Hope your both of our chicks will recover.

Looking for Pheasant. Once of our co-worker will be retiring and he would like to repopulate pheasant in his area. If you are selling pheasant or pheasant fertile eggs, please let me know. I can provide his contact to you.

Hopefully yours will do alright if it can bend now, maybe it slipped the tendon back in and is just sore? Mine wasn't thrilled with the sling, so she is splinted and sitting in a kennel. My SIL is a vet tech and said that chickens should be splinted, but allowed to bear weight to encourage healing. Husband said she was drinking and eating when he got home so I am hopeful she will pull through!

Most people are slowing down on their chick acquisitions or hatchings...I on the other hand have 8 (so far) adorable French Silver Cuckoo Marans and my order of Silver Ameraucanas came in. I have got chicks galore now on top of the three coops and farrowing shed that I have overtaken for my chickens. Hub

is thinking about moving me out to the barn. lol

Most people are slowing down on their chick acquisitions or hatchings...I on the other hand have 8 (so far) adorable French Silver Cuckoo Marans and my order of Silver Ameraucanas came in. I have got chicks galore now on top of the three coops and farrowing shed that I have overtaken for my chickens. Hub

We just closed down our family Pheasant Farm.

Hopefully dad does not get going on it again....he misses his emus, goats & pheasants, but he is pushing 80 and we are trying to get him to "slow down"

So far, it is not working very well...he is sneaking birds back onto the farm...and folows CL looking for bargains & animals to adopt...............he can barely walk !

So cute! I got emailed that I may not get my order of Wheaten Ams. I'm sad about it. Hopefully next week I can get some shipped out.

ALL my chicks hatched (and kept) are consuming 100# of flock raiser A WEEK...........................

They are being separated into their breed & introduced into the "Big Girl's Coops" now...which is hair raising to say the least.

babies often introduced can get picked on, and many need creeps in order to get any food, as some old hens guard the food.

This time of year can be exhausting....and makes me want to go on vacation for about 3 months !

I've got 25 birds under 16 weeks. 2 of them are pullets that are just starting to pink up. I forgot over the winter just how much maturing pullets can eat. Those two eat more than the 9 4-week olds.
