Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Oh ok, darn. I have someone looking for a RIR rooster, was hoping I could help you and her. Sorry, hope you find him a home!
Quote: Nope, sorry (well, the right breed); I want Porcelein and that's a very pretty quail.

I've learned, over the years, that the best way for me not to end up with more things than I can handle is to desire very specific and narrowly defined sorts of things: the more unusual and difficult to find the better for my budget!

(The coding on this is all sideways, but I'm too tired to fix it, sorry.
No prob, just thought I would throw it out there for ya. I had her, her twin, a white bantom (not the same breed) and 5 silkies in a tractor coop that something dug under and got every one but this little girl. I love her to death, when ever I come out she runs up to me and jumps up into my hand and just sits with me. Now you would think this was not that neat or impressive cause a lot of you hold your girls a lot when they are chicks to make them this way, but this (as well as the others she was housed with) had NEVER been held! She is just naturally sweet I guess. The only reason I am trying to find her a home is because I do not have any other chickens this small, I mean she is tiny.

If any one would like to give this tiny girl a more size appropriate home let me know!

Quote: Silly girl! Yes you did. I am having to immerse myself with hymns to push the other thing out of my mind. It's actually working! I like this version better. It doesn't have the glitches. I love Carries voice and Vinces guitar.

Have you heard the Martina McBride version? I love it! I have a CD (old!) called "Amazing Grace: A country salute to gospel"; it's awesome!
Here's what's on it:
1. Amazing Grace - Lari White
2. Peace In The Valley - John Anderson
3. Blessed Assurance - John Berry
4. How Great Thou Art - Martina McBride
5. In The Garden - Billy Dean & Susan Ashton
6. Mansion Over The Hilltop - Paul Overstreet
7. Beulah Land - Shenandoah
8. I'd Rather Have Jesus - Alison Krauss & The Cox Family/Suzanne Cox
9. Kneel At The Cross - Charlie Daniels Band
10. Precious Memories - Emmylou Harris
Thanks Jess, I'll look some of those up on Youtube. Maybe they'll be there.

I had a little time to dig things up tonight, but it was cold and rainy, and a lot of ground was buried in 6-12 inches of big leaf maple leaves, so I don't have a lot and I don't even know if people will want it! All of these are volunteers in the yard, and I don't consider them the welcome kind. I'll bring them in my van, and if someone wants them just let me know and I'll bring them in. Sorry for the awful pics, it was getting foggy and my flash kept reflecting.

I think these are cedars? Why the heck and I getting a little forest of cedars by my garage??? I think I dug up 7, 3-6" tall. The yellow stuff is fallen leaves from another plant.

I have one of these trees behind the garage, and it spawns a small army each year. Much smaller than the neighbor's maple, though. This one is maybe 4' tall? I couldn't get a pic of the whole tree thanks to the flash reflecting. I think it's a red alder? I put it in a gallon pot.

I I also dug up 3 of these. I don't know what they are. They have a strong scent when the leaves are torn or bruised. Any ideas?

I also have a holly that I potted up instead of throwing in the yard waste, if anybody likes giant prickly annoying shrubs. It's still very small. Oh, and one big leaf maple that's a few feet tall.

So I'm stuck in either my recliner or the bed right now. I pulled something in my lower back on Tuesday while carrying strawbales to the chicken coop. I probably would have been fine if I hadn't went and got refills in the two 5 gallon water jugs the next day. Bending just is full of pain right now.

I will still be at the show, just may be moving slow.

Oh no!! That's horrible! I hope you get some relief and feel better soon!!

Thank you, sounds great and I'm looking forward to meeting you tomorrow!

We are taking boxes for any extras. If you need some I can supply.

Great idea about the boxes!!

So I put Louise back out with her flock. She was so irritated being in the cage in the house, poor thing! She had her eyes open all day and her tail was back up?? I don't know how she got better so fast! Still doing Corid for everyone for a week though. OK gotta get kids in bed, bbl!

That's awesome that she's feeling better!! So happy for you!

It turns out that I cannot go to the show tomorrow because I have to find a new home for my rooster.  He's the one responsible for injuring combs, wattles and earlobes in the past week.  I think I'm going to give up roosters and switch to geese!  I'll try to make it to the next show.

He's a Lavender Orpington, a bit more than five months old.  He's good when I'm around, but it seems that all bets are off when I'm not around.

It was the sale area last year that brought me my unfulfilled longing for Porcelein OEGs (or possibly Barbu d' Anvers. Not D'Uccles, though, fuzzy feet bug me). I'd be short a permanent run/coop for them but I want to tractor something on my paver-and-gravel areas to get the grass out of the gravel, anyway.

Is this what you are looking for?

She is a darling, but you're right, Barbu d'Anvers are tiny, tiny birds, and I'd be a bad person to have a single bantam, since I house my chickens with very open coops (tall roosts under wire and plastic, for the most part).

I'm so excited for the show tomorrow!! Can't wait to meet everyone and to see all the different birds! I don't know yet what we're bringing for snack, we have to swing by the store on the way out. We've been so busy I haven't had time to make anything. Sounds like there's going to be lots of goodies.

Thanks so much Carolyn for the plants, I am looking forward to getting them in the garden in the spring!

If anyone's interested in a Bantam Cockerel let me know. We can bring him to the show tomorrow.

Have a great night and drive safe everyone!

Also, if I don't show up tomorrow it's because Ruby (the Chesepeake Cow Retriever) has eaten some bath salts what were a Christmas present from my daughter's friend and which nobody knew were still in the house, even, and which she's puked up most of, but: salts. Consider if you will the vernacular phrase "went through (her) like a dose of salts."

We may be mopping, in other words.

Boy, I hope not.

I have five quail d'Anvers of my own and two other bantams as well. I could certainly give your darling girl a home, if you'd like.

Peanut butter fudge is done! It turned out really good! I found one camp chair, DH will look for the other in the AM. I'm glad he's coming with me. I'm trying to convince him to sit in on the Serama workshop with me. He's retiring soon and I suggested he should start showing our Seramas when we get to breeding ours in the next year. I love that he's been showing more interest in all of our chickens lately.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!
