It was gorgeous here all day also. This morning I went to the feed store and got a bunch of stuff, then I went downtown and bought a dishwasher and a freezer :) then I came home and rate my front yard and the neighbors front yard and piled all the leaves in the chicken run and the compost pile. I now have some very very happy chickens :)
My neighbors have chickens and they don't take very good care of them. They usually let them run loose in the afternoon and they end up all over the neighborhood. I have some feed that my chickens don't like so I took some of that over there a couple days ago and today I dumped a big pile of leaves in their yard thinking they would appreciate that for their chickens. Well, I was wrong. I went out there later and they were raking them all up. They speak Spanish and I don't. I tried to tell them what they were four but I don't think they understood. Oh well, I tried. I don't really like their chicken is running loose because a couple times they have gotten into my backyard where my chickens are and I don't want the mix together. My flock is healthy and I want to keep it that way.
So I better jump in the shower, going to church tonight. I haven't been there in so long the building might burn down when I show up. Oh well, I guess I'll risk it.

I noticed my local cascade store has huge bales of wood chips. I didn't look too hard at them because I don't exactly have a pick up truck to haul them home in. But that might be an option. For now the leaves are over a foot deep in places so the chickens are happy.

I've gotten those a couple times here and there. I really don't know what else to do about it except make sure they have Oystershell available.

Maybe in the crate in the coop so she can see everyone but be comfortable. I have a lamb tube and baby parrot food that I will tube the birds with if they are eating, but not a lot.

If they aren't eating at all, something else might be wrong. It doesn't sound like broody behavior. Is her crop squishy? I've had sour crop issues and they don't like to eat much with that.

Well tonight I checked and she was in the nesting box so I put her back up on the roost. But her crop was pretty full. So I was happy about that.

Glad she ate

The most common reason for shell less eggs is if a pullet recently started laying within the last month, or a hen is about to molt or brood, or is just starting to lay again after molting or brooding.
Just one of those things that sometimes happens that happens occasionally. It's usually nothing more than a hiccup in the egg production system.
