Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I literally mess the hay nest my Perkins use in their duck house every time I collect eggs. I have three and they all use the same nest. I read online they get skiddish if eggs are taken and this seems to help that. No eggs in pen on ground.

I am not sure what you mean by "mess the hay nest" but our ducks don't go into a duck house. I thought they would go under the raised chicken coops for shelter but they prefer to sleep in the open no matter what the weather does. Since Pekins are primarily meat ducks they do no make the best mothers so they are not as protective of their eggs. Our ducks are smart and they will hide their eggs to the best of their ability.

I am thinking about making nest boxes with a bunch of green buckets with lids that I got free. I just have to clean oil out of them and figure out a way to cut holes in the lids and brace them. My husband does not want to make anything out of wood because it will rot on the ground.

Have 4 definite frizzles from my last hatch.
