Quote: Great! Thanks! Haven't needed one yet, but I like to be prepared....before hand.
There is also a lady on Craigslist in the Vancouver area that makes them for $5 each. I am thinking about trying a couple of hers.

I'm soooo happy!

She was at the neighbor's house, and then flew to another neighbor's house, then another! I met a lot of neighbors and got very wet - but I'm SOOOO happy!

I was so depressed earlier - thank you all for your encouraging words!

One more happy dance!

Are all the chickens in this pen little like the Silkies? I'd really like to add some Silkies to our flock but have been told not to keep them w/LF.
If you raise them from chicks together they are fine. Adding them to a LF flock is not a good idea. They can be more fragile than most chickens and they tend to get picked on. You have to keep them dry and they get mites and lice easily. But they are so darned cute! I love them! But they should be kept in seperate coops if they haven't been raised together. JMHO

Thanks for the info. I almost brought a couple home from the show, I'm glad I decided to hold off. We don't really have the set up for them....at least not yet anyway.

I know some enablers. And if ya wait until you have a coop it will never happen. See the best thing is to bring em home then ya have to build a coop!!!

Thanks for this. Maybe someday we will have a coop and run just for them but until then, I will only be able to live vicariously through all of the BYC Silkie peeps!

Are you ok?

YES I AM ok sorry.

Was having a super bad day since had to cancel work on the Tunnel due to the pouring rain never mind all the other things on my list. I decided to run errands and completely spaced it that it was BLACK FRIDAY, which I NEVER do. What a bunch of crazys out there! 'God is Great, Beer is Good and People are Crazy'! Needed to go to Wilco for some farm supplies. I desperately needed jeans and I had been looking online for some kind of discount on my favorite Carhartts with no luck. While at Wilco ended up wandering into the apparel section and SCORED on some really cute cowgirl jeans (much cuter than my favs!) for half off the sale price so much cheaper too! I guess Black Friday wasn't so bad after all. The farm supplies will have to wait. A girls got priorities ya know.

Glad everyone had a great Thanksgiving and dawng, hope your Frodo shows up. :(

Awww dang it!! I didn't even think to go there today!! I love, love, love some of the jeans they have but they are all like $100 and I just can't bring myself to spend that kinda cash on 1 pair of pants!! But a sale on those babies would've made my day! Shucks! Well, at least you scored!

See silly girly ya had the perfect reason and ya let it slip away. You could have used the reason of NEEDING Them. For when and get all dressed up for their big shopping trip to Iron Imagery!!!

Had to put a saddle on one of my BO's just now, she is getting a good bare spot from "Pig Pen" lovin on her too much. She got me though, scratched my forearm and pooped all over my lap. Yay. I caught her bare spot early enough she will prolly only need to be in it for 3-4 weeks. So now I have a BO and BR(the one that had side torn from mating) in saddles. My broody BR didn't need hers so I took hers off a couple of weeks ago when she started going broody. Time to get some more and just put all of them in them maybe.

May I ask where one would find a saddle for a chicken?
At the poultry saddlery !!!

OK yes there are places on line to buy them and may even be some peeps here who make and sell them.

Yippee! I'm SO glad she's home safe and sound. And that you got to meet some neighbors. Now you'll have a story to share next time you see them. Good all around.

Had a good day today, I actually did the Black Friday thing all by myself and had a leisurly time of it, if you can believe it! I found several things we actually needed and a few gifts all on sale even! No lines! I walked into Kohl's and saw the lines so I just turned around and walked out smiling! I even went back out at 8 this evening, to JoAnns to get fabric for jammies to sew with 2 of my granddaughters. It's a Twofer Christmas Gift! They get the fabric and a pattern, and then we work on them together. And I got 60% off on a cutting mat for DD (so she'll quit borrowing mine). Kind of amazing how short the lines are at closing time. lol

Tomorrow is our Thanksgiving, so up early to bake a pie, get the bird into the oven (19.5 pounds), clean, and get it all ready for the crew. Love It!

I'm very thankful for all I have. I truly believe we live in the lap of luxury!

Take Care All, and Have a Good Weekend.

My quilt inspired needlepoint. I still need to block it, but it's stitched.

Wow... you did a beautiful job!  And so quickly, too!  Years ago I did some needle point, but not for a very long time.  You're canvas is hardly even warped.  You're Good!

Thank you. I used a continental stitch, and I ran the stitches in a couple of directions to get the straight lines a quilt design needs. Both of those keep the canvas from distorting too badly.

Dawng; I'm very happy that you got back your chicken. I know how stressful it can be when one goes missing.

OK, it's been almost a week, about time I had better photos, right? Although this one was taken under a big CFL and even color-corrected is a little ooky:

This one is flash, and better for color, but the tape measure is out of focus (someone elsewhere asked me how big they were).

These girls are adorable! I love their coloring!

I love your christmas gift idea for your granddaughters - building those special memories is so much better than any toy!
