Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Takes an army of silkies to have some broody at all times.

Out of 30 (I think?) silkie hens I have, 8 are broody and one has the crossbreed chicks. Would be good if half of the rest weren't molting, though most are almost done.

Did a basic evaluation on the almost 8 week old chicks. 6 boys and 5 girls.

One boy is already showing signs of being a calm, friendly boy like I've been trying to breed for. Not bad since his father isn't the friendliest even though he's descended from the one super friendly hen. The chick probably got it from his mother who is also a descendant and friendly. If I don't keep him, he'd be good for someone's pet or showmanship.

I already have one rooster with a huge color fault that isn't soup only because he's a friendly guy. I can't keep them all on as pets. If there is one thing I should end up with in my breeding eventually, it will be that all are calm friendly birds.

so you think your intend to keep him maybe depends on toes and colour right
I adore my girls you know that would not trade them

He's got good feet. Too young to tell on the wings. Good chance right now he will be kept for breeding.

There's another little black pullet chick with leakage. She is on the list to go elsewhere.
