Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hey Tom the top 4 eggs are from the pullets you gave me back. The next 2 down are from some of my new pullets, the next single light one on the left was from the mother of the pullets you gave me back and the bottom one is from one of my original 5 the other 3 original hens that didn’t lay today lay the darkest eggs the other new pullets I have lay pretty nice dark eggs as well.

No eggs just yet of my single Marans from you although the cockerel is still very nice
I did pickup four cuckoo marans 1 died in a water bucket have the other three

So have we all survived the snow storm, We had less than a dusting but only went out for mail pickup

Our 3 girls are quite chilly, but doing okay. The chicky’s watering system froze and due to all the crazy wind, snow blew down in the bottom of their coop and they didn’t want to come out and eat. After unfreezing watering cups and putting some shavings down on the cement and thickening their bedding in the coop they decided they would come out. We were rewarded with 2 eggs!

Does anyone know of any breeders of Pina Pinta’s in Washington... I feel a bit odd asking this but is the breed even in the USA? Everything I look up states that its super rare and from Australia.I am asking because I am trying to figure out the kind of chicken I have... I thought I might have a mottled Java but I don’t know now. The hens that I got were supposedly 4 months old around Thanksgiving which makes them 6 months old now. One silkie and the other was sold as a speckled Sussex but once home saw she wasn’t a Sussex. She looks a lot like a mottled Java but she has bright yellow legs. Since she is so young could her yellow go away? Anyone know what she could be? Any other guesses? She is black (iridescent green) and white...My profile picture is her.

I live in Federal Way. We didn’t get a crazy amount of snow but it was really dry, so when the wind kicked up it blew it right into the bottom of their coop and they didn’t like that one bit...too cold on their feet to walk on the cement. Spoiled girls got royal treatment today.
