Molly the mostly silkie is named after Molly Weasley. For obvious reasons since silkies love to raise chicks. Broody twice this year so far.

These are the eggs I ordered. Partridge, blue cream, and black silkies. Most are partridge which is what I need for fresh blood.

Mom has asked me to freeze up some boys to take to her. She wants some chicken and dumplings that tastes like what she ate growing up. Grandma raised their chicken.

I have some candidates in the large fowl pen. Out of those 7 chicks, only 1 is female. 2 of the boys are vying for the spot of secondary rooster in that pen. Also the little jerk in the silkie pens was asked for specifically because he is older and will make better broth. I just skin and cut up soup destined birds. It's easier and less freezer space. Will make it easier for Mom as well. She can't cut them up as easily as I can.

I finished up my new chicken coop yesterday and put my pullets in their new home. They were incredibly puzzled by the whole experience. The older girls were having way too much fun torturing my pair of lavender orps too. The lavenders bring it on themselves. They shriek when anyone gets close to them, so of course it draws the attention of everyone to come pick on them.

being retired has some pitfalls..

Red was gone maybe just long enough and Smudge was not on all the girls to fast
