We had to spend two nights in a hotel there, while a relative had knee surgery. Every morning, I got up around 5 am, then the family and I, (5 of us) walked to the bakery nearby and got breakfast. And we ordered doordash from nearby restaurants for dinner, the kids had fun with it.

My parents live over in a very small Oregon town just south of Kennewick. They don't do the best with city driving, even on Portland trips. When my Dad had early morning appointments at Virginia Mason in Seattle, I found them a decent hotel in Issaquah by the freeway. I was still woken for directions when they got lost on the one way streets even with printed directions. Im good with maps so even though Dad was still driving, I figured out where they were and what roads to take to the hospital. I've had other calls asking for directions in other places as well.

Mom says I'm the only one she knows who can navigate a map while rapidly changing where the vehicle is. That's why hubby drives and I do the navigating in unknown places.

I still have nightmares from back in the early 2000s of a trip from Virginia to Texas and back. Heavy snow and ice storm hit Charlotte, NC before we had to drive through but we didn't know. 4 lane freeway had 6 of traffic that was sliding all over because people are idiots. After almost being killed by another speeding semi that slid, I told hubby to make his way over and take any available exit, I didn't care, I'd find a route. And I did. Back country roads were snowy but not slick. Found out later we probably saved 2 hours by going way out of our way and avoided an accident. It got very bad not long after we exited the freeway.

Sorry I rambled. As I said, that still gives me nightmares and flashbacks.
