Bleh! Slugs have woken up for the spring...I have a HUGE population of Leaopard Slugs in my yard, never had any issues with the chickens going after them before. Today though, the gals found one and killed it! Several of them "taste tested" it before I got it buried and the gals shooed out of the space they found it in (walkway between run and coop human doors).

When I googled it, all I could find was that "most chickens avoid them". And since it wasn't in an area I can safely leave them alone, I didn't want to wait around for them to eat it, lol.

Can I borrow your hens? My hens have taste-tested, and ignore them totally. I don't have room for ducks, who love them, I've heard.

Most of mine don't like slugs either (I know the slime bothers them) but a few will still toss some back every so often.

Put beer out in saucers let the slug loose slime.
I take mine out give to the birds..

Most chickens don't like the slime. Texture can mean a lot for them.
