Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Yes. The bird flu is making everyone get very biosecure.
I just got my tractor done today, though they have been under cover since the flu made it to my county. We don't very much waterfowl traffic in our area which is a relief, definitely raptors though. 😬 My only concern now is that the location the tractor was in, next to the coop, was exposed to the flu before I covered it. Then I moved them into the tractor and now they're infected. Its a risk I'm willing to take to get them under cover though. The patch work of tarps on top of my flimsy run was not protected enough for my sanity. :p

I hope everyone else in Wa is staying safe! How quickly its spreading amazes me, though I can't say I'm surprised.

You masy not be able to place the poor peeps till bird flu is not issue alo what part of the state are you in ?
@pennyJo1960 and @ValerieJ I'm in Peirce County I'm sure they don't have bird flu cause they are still on the brooder. But if someone is interested I can wait till all this craziness is over, then get the birds to whomever wants them.

I probably won't get another large fowl rooster for a long while. We'll see though after Leven passes. He's set a high standard.
I know how you feel! I have Pippi, the best rooster ever, and just do not know what I'll do when I lose him. Some roosters really are special.

Leven gets his girls to hide and stands in front of them if he sees a hawk. He's super paranoid and vigilant. If a girl yells for any reason he comes running. If it's me he will pace out of arms reach to make sure she's ok, then go back to watch the other hens. He will come up to me and ask for treats if I go outside. I love to hand him one because he will run off and give it to a hen.

Im still not going to get over last fall when his sons decided that 6 of the 7 of them were going to overthrow him. He beat them all up. I showed up in time to see him taking on 2 at once while the others were wounded and watching. Only 'injury' he had was he lost his spur caps somewhere.
