Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

She's adorable! Too funny with her head stuck in the box. Assuming she got herself in that mess and this wasn't staged? LOL Thanks for sharing!!
Not staged at all! I was working on the computer when I heard some "suspicious" noises which usually indicate someone (a Clumber) is doing something naughty. I went to go find out what was going on and Rosie came galloping to me, ran flat into my knees, then went dancing around half-blindly but completely aware she was doing something incredibly funny! She didn't even mind that I took the time after LMAO to go get the camera, set it up, and then take photos before I helped her dislodge. Love my dogs.

(Also if I was going to stage something, it would not be on the most filthy part of the floor!)

FYI from my experience broody raised chicks are wilder than non-broody raised. I am of the opinion that if one wants calm birds don't let a broody raise them.
I completely agree! My broody raised Marans were very jumpy. Never could hold them, could barely catch them and the Marans raised in our back room are very gentle.

Anyone done Christmas shopping? I have one last trip to IKEA to do tonight and I'm finished! I get to drop off the kids at church for free babysitting from our college group from 5:30-8:30 and I'm SO excited to eat IKEA food without the kids asking for everything they can't eat, and touching everything on every rack through the whole store. Super excited to wander IKEA for 2 hours alone!

I hear ya! I think my chickens are tired of it too! They don't get out as much and are pretty unhappy with me.
It is almost 10:00 AM and so dark outside. I really need to go clean out my coop but having trouble Psyching myself up for it. Oh great it just started pouring too. Maybe later will be better?

I just placed an order online but very little shopping done yet.

[WARNING : Not chicken related, but I'm sure some of y'all could use a giggle even if not avian.]

Ever had one of those mornings?

This is Rosie, aka Comedy's Rosie the Riveter, one of our pups from 2011 that we kept.  She was a singleton but may also be the best dog we have ever bred.  She is a 4th Generation of our own breeding, and also of our "line" of Clumbers that can win at the shows and hunting on the same weekend.  No split in our breed between show and working!

BTW - Rosie is the daughter of Ramona, the avatar I have  ↑.

So, you're saying that Clumbers, although excellent dogs in many ways, may be just a teensy bit lacking in dignity, then?

I'm going to IKEA during the day next week, having reached an age when I'd rather be 100% grinch than deal with weekend holiday crowds anywhere, let alone there.

I haven't bought anything for my sister and her family, and may just draw the line there: I am so very broke, and was so without the prospect of unbudgetted dental work.

Quote: One can only hope! Mine are so desperate to go out they make a break for it everytime I open the run door. This morning a few got out because I wasn't paying attention and so I had to let them all out. They won't go back in no matter what I do and ever since I got a roo the girls don't squat for me. So it makes them hard to catch. :) So I let them ot for a half hour and then coaxed them back in with meal worms. I hope to let them out later too. And clean coops tomorrow.

Or maybe today if it stops raining.

Really it should be in the breed standard that owners must forfeit any sense of dignity... Our Clumbers will do anything they can think of to cheer us up. I'm in a ##%%(& mood today, or was, so I wouldn't put it past Rosie for a second that she may have thought this up for laughs. And it worked. I should probably worry that my dogs are so good with mindgames....

Just want to add my crossed digits to the"Oh c'mon! PLEASE STOP RAINING for a few consecutive hours" plea.

We jokingly call our home SlopAcre, as in we're happier here than pigs in slop, but even by slop standards, this monsoon is approaching absurd.
