Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I did spend time in the coop last evening. I swept the sand off the base board and sprayed

this clove/cinnamon based spray on the roost and all of the base boards, I crawled down and got under the nesting boxes swept. I did not dust down the walls, I'll do that next month when I do my yearly clean the coop day. The sand is great that it is clean and does not mold or have bugs but boy does it give out the dust.

I have dust as my biggest coop issue. I have a functioning deep litter going on. Poop is broken down within 3 days at most. I need to go add some water again I think unless my watering the run this week drained enough in there for the worms and insects. It's time for the fall addition of shavings what won't last two weeks but seem to help out. There is never any smell out there. No flies in there either.

The stuff under the roosts looks like dirt. That's what I scoop out for Mom and use myself on the garden. I just make sure not to take too much. It was a pain that first year getting it working.

The silkies get shavings in their little houses I need to change regularly. That's built up the soil level in the pens because I just spread it out. No flooding IN their pens even it It's flooded outside of them. They stay dry.

I put mine in the freezer whole until I have enough
Good idea. If Jeremy's doesn't have tomatoes I'll do something like that. I may anyway. I can always can tomatoes if I have more than I need for marinara. I use a lot of tomatoes all year, so having both will be just fine.

There is outfit at the corner of Jackson and 508 called Ron's Produce he brings it from easter side of the state. He did say it is on Fridays he brings more tomato.
I know about Ron. I want Romas, which he normally doesn't have. I did find them at Jeremy's.
