Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Making marinara and canning it was mostly successful yesterday. I ended up with 25 lbs of tomatoes because I had 5 lbs from my garden to add to the box.

Unfortunately I inadvertently under processed one batch so I will have to redo that one this morning. It's a pain because I actually have to take it all out of the jars, heat it up then repack freshly sanitized jars and reprocess. Oh well. Mistakes happen.

The good news is I have 18 pints of marinara sauce. Perfect amount for a dinner for two, either on pasta or eggplant parmesan. So many ways to use it really.

I used to can in quart jars and there was always too much leftover for the two of us. We are not big on leftovers, so pints will work much better for us.

Still getting some really big eggs. Both of these were laid this morning along with 4 that were more normal sized, probably around 50 grams each.. Looked like there was another shell less egg this morning under the roost, too.

We had to pull over by the side of the road at one point and wait for a tow truck to take us to Ellensberg, and stay the night. (Yeah. The Red Lion had a comfy bed though.) When I was by the side of the road waiting for tow truck I went and took a folding chair to the edge of the road by a cliff and had a coors light. My vacation was still started.
