Sorry, but W\we're all friends here and this isn't an exclusive thread for talking chickens. We all come here to talk to our Washington (and sometimes OR!) friends about anything and everything, including current events, politics, sometimes religion, and of course, poultry! I don't think it's right of you to come here asking us as friends not to talk about things that are on our minds. There is a lot of emotion stirred up with such a horrifying historical event, and we're here to vent and get our feelings validated among friends. If some of that talk is about guns and the way we feel about them, then so be it. We are all civilized adults who can brush off those opinions who don't mesh with our own and not turn this into a debate forum. I appreciate others' opinions even if I don't feel the same way and I'm glad for anyone who wants to speak their mind here.

Hopefully I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I feel the same way. It is certainly understandable if people are expressing their opinions in inappropriate, offensive ways, but I don't believe we are doing so on this subject. I have not seen anyone on either side of this subject act out by insulting the opposite side.

I am a "Terrierist" and this is my "Terrier"!
(I must be completely mad)

They are soo cute!!!!! Great Danes crack me up. Sweet, big babies!!! Terriers certainly have a lot of personality and stubborness. I refer to them as "terrors"!!!

But, the bad new is, my shoulder has not healed as well as it should. Seems there is a problem in several vertebrae in my neck causing pain in BOTH arms now. Got to have another MRI at the end of the month to rule out a ruptured disc (keep you fingers crossed for me everyone - I really don't want spinal surgery).

Hope you get relief very soon!!!!!!!!

We're looking to get a pit bull puppy in the next few weeks, I think.  We're not feeling so safe here in the country any more after some guy in a truck with a modified bed (freezer unit with meat company logo) pulled up one sunny day and asked my fiancee if he was the head of the house.  Ed said no and pointed at me (hidden behind a bush).  He said he just wanted to meet his neighbors.  Then he walked over to me and asked if I'm the head of the house.  I said that I'm not and that she was not home right then.  He mumbled that he was sorry and scuttled off to his truck.  He backed down our very long driveway very quickly.  Our lab-greyhound and rat terrier chased him all the way.  He could have turned around before backing all the way but did not even consider it.  He was just checking up on his "neighbors" to see when he could drop by to rob us blind.  We want to have a dog that has the ability to protect us in a dangerous situation.  Plus, pit bulls are not bad dogs.  If they are raised/trained correctly and treated well, they are great dogs.  I know that I'll feel a bit safer when we have one.

We had someone rob us when we were getting moved in here. They used an angle grinder to cut the 2 inch metal handle off the shipping container that is our storage shed since we put the round locks on it. There were people pulling into our drive and sitting at the locked gate at night who would take off as soo as you opened a curtain.

We were told to get a big dog by neighbors, so when we went down to my Moms that summer, we bought a german shepherd puppy, then two months later at thanksgiving when we went back down, we picked up our heeler/aussie as a puppy from the shelter. They now sound all ferocious and run to the fenceline when someone sits out front. The gsd sounds so terrifying. Both are fine with the chickens because they grew up with them. If you're a rodent, you're dead, though. I've seen them work with the chickens to catch young voles, and the chickens gather around the GSD when she smells a nest and starts digging. They know where to get snacks.

So DH and I had sucj a great time last night. The company Christmas party was in Bellevue at the Daniels Broiler. It was just beautiful! I was worried that I would be the odd ball out, as I am a very loud ”entertaing” person and with the party being at a place like it was and that we had to dress up (which I don't ever get to do) I thought every one would be on their best behavior, even for dirt workers. But I was happily and surprisingly wrong! Yhey hiered an awsome magician who was amazing and I got to be in one of his tricks. Think DH was hoping he would make me disappear lol.
It was my first time meeting all these people and yet was told by four differnt people that I was the life of the party!
DH got a bag full of gifts (if I knew people were bringing gifts I would have brought eggs for everyone. Lol)
He got two company coats, shirt, awsome knife and a $200 gift card to FredMeyers. On top of that they had three HUGE jars with camdy in them. Two were filled with costco chocolate and the third with M&Ms. We had to guess how many candies were in the M&M and one of the other jars and answer a work scenario trivia question on the othet jar. DH was closest on the M&M jar, his guess was 3,450 the answer was 3,800! In with the M&Ms was..... $250 in 50's. One of the other jats had a check for $250 and the other a $250 gift card. DH was only 5 off of the trivia question but someone was closer.
All food and DRINKS were free! The food was amazing. They spent $5,500 on the food and drinks alone, but that icludes the $500 tip. I need to go work there!
We really needed that night out, it has been years sense we have been out like that, let alone not having kids with us.

On the chicken side of things...
My little chicken that I found attact in the coop the other day (been wondering for a while if she was even laying, never caught her in a nest). Well I put her in my DD's guinea pig cage in het room (whay a surprize that was for her when she came home

Darn it again posted before I wanted to! Anyway...
Part of her comb is very damaged, but her legs are now working just fine. One of her eyes was shut for a few days but is better and open now. She is feeling so good in fact, that I found out she is laying. She layed a perfect egg in the cage and DD was extatic at het find. In the next day or two I will take her in the cage out to the coop and keep her in it for a few days so she can get re aquainted! So glad she is doing better and with no meds of any kind!

I've taken to feeding my girls some oatmeal many mornings. I'd like to buy it in bulk. I'd prefer the quick cooking oatmeal. Does anyone know if the Grange or other feed stores have this? I suspect there's a better chance of regular oatmeal from a feed store. I could make the trip to a Winco but the closest is 25 miles from me. I'm in Issaquah.

I'm with you. Sex, religion, and politics (gun control comes under politics) don't belong here. They belong in the random ramblings section. Anyone who wants to talk gun control should go there to start a thread, properly labelled, so people know what they're getting into or can choose to avoid the thread. I don't want to be ambushed here.
I also would like to thank Dr. Bjorn Netland for his post. Though I love you guys, I have found it difficult to be on this thread especially the last few days. He expressed my feelings exactly and I commend him for speaking up when he feels so outnumbered. I have to say it was a painful shock to see a photo of someone so proudly displaying their weapon, and all the support she got for it so soon after such a terrible tragedy. As the mother of a teenage autistic boy who has been dealing with occasional bouts of anger since reaching puberty, I can tell you that a child who is sweet and loving 99.9% of the time can seem almost possessed with anger when he is feeling ostracized and teased by his peers. You wonder what happened to that beautiful, happy, well adjusted child you had raised for 12 years. With kids on the spectrum, their responses frequently are not to scale with the offense they felt was committed, though it is almost unheard of for someone who is autistic to draw attention to themselves in a manner the killer did. Thankfully, my son has never been violent, but a lot of how the killer was described in the media could apply to my boy - incredibly smart, does not fit in, few friends.... I believe in my heart that had the killers mother not been such a gun enthusiast, he would not have found guns to be an acceptable outlet for his frustrations. Those beautiful children and their teachers would still be here.

Are ya'll ready for the storm tonight. Large profile vehicles(like semi's, what I drive) have a warning about the winds. Gonna be a fun drive tonight.:hide

Yeah, we've got out shopping done and are hoping the lights stay on. At least it looks to be moving through here fast, so we won't end up with another 2-3 inch rainfall event, the Church parking lot was finally walkable this morning.
