Hi everyone! I have my first real injury to deal with and would like your opinion. I found our Marans had a swollen ear and tried to drain. Only blood clots - no other colors of fluid - not even clear. Brought her in again and cleaned again today. Still just clots and no oozing anything.

Any ideas? Am I on the right path?

Smell it, yes smell it. If it has infection it will smell bad. Put Neosporin(w/o pain reliever) on it if no infection. If there is infection use hydrogen-peroxide to clean out the sore and put the Neosporin on it. Then continue with the Neosporin for a few days.

We found an adorable rottweiler/pit bull mix in Longview. They placed a hold on her for me, so I think there's a short road trip in my future (tomorrow).

Even worse... they hot my only white leg horn too. No more huge butiful white eggs. :'( Call me the bad news bear today.

I'm so sorry you're having such a rough day!!!   I hope it gets better and that you can incubate those eggs successfully.

Yeah, but Farminmama is, shall we say, vertically challenged, and tiny. But you should see the muscles on that girl! I would ask for her help any day!

Actually TRIPLE POINTS. I will have a "temp" driver hauling a set in front of me. I am not looking forward to possible snow over 500' with a "temp" to babysit.

Got cool news from my boy in the Army, he got to blow up 1000 pounds of explosives today at his EOD training school. And he will be home on Christmas Eve for 12 days. One happy dad here.
