I woke up to a brooder full of some serious pecking order rivalry. All 4 were going at it hard. They almost landed their tiny hineys back into the 10-gallon tank brooder where they wouldn't be able to fly at each other and knock each other around. I informed them that they are young ladies, and they better start acting like it!

Dog gone Kate... that doesn't sound like fun! And I'm sorry to hear about the 'bator eggs. Were the 18 barnies one of those 3 sets of eggs?
My little girl 'Betsy' is doing really well now. She doesn't lay a lot of eggs but they're very good sized, larger than the EE or Aussie's. She's gained quite a bit of weight and has feathered out a lot since I've had her, too.

Duck eggs... yummy! Have a good evening!

Yup, no barnie babies this year. There are 3 girls left and the roo is fine, so perhaps better luck next spring. First time the 'bator let us down. Oh well.

Glad Betsy is doing well. I'm keeping fingers crossed we can get the hatchrite fixed so we can get lots of new Barnvelders in the spring - and some Cornveleders too!

Hi Julie - been thinking about you lately! Seems we have a tone of ducks, but while some of the boys are simply stunning, they are all relatedto our girls. don't suppose you have a drake you'd like to trade - straight across, or maybe for some tasty bunny meat?

YES !!!
DH and I were just saying that very thing, barely 2 weeks ago we were roasting & so worried our wells would go dry !
Fires were everywhere...thank goodness for rain !!!!!!!!!!!

But doesn't it seem like it was suuuuuuucccccccccccchhhhhhhhh a Loooooooooong summer, summer forever, then POW it is winter ?
