Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

While I am not overly fond of children and have difficulty interacting with them. I will also ssay that all of the little people there yesterday were very good. Setting in that situation for 2+ hours is a lot to ask and they all dealt with it very well. Kudos to you parents.

Nobody in my house woke up until 9am! That's a first. Like...in almost 7 years, nobody has slept in until then. Amazing, but we missed our service at church. I'm working on getting an online sermon up so we can have family worship and enjoy our Sunday together. I plan to drag DH out to the coop to help me with some things this afternoon. I want Lucy and her subsequent chicks to be veryyyyy safe and right now there's no security in there; the latch even fell off the nest box lid! Doh!

Question for y'all: I have a huge box in the garage. If I cut it apart and used a staple gun to run the box in a half circle around the nest box Lucy is in, would that work for a broody area? I know they'll want to leave the nest box after a few days and I want them to be safe from the rest of the girls. I figured when they're ready to leave that area and venture out of the coop, I can just life a lid flap for them to have access in and out. WDYT? Also, would I need to cover it? Think my girls would jump down into it from the roost if they wanted a chick badly enough?

I can't offer any sound advice for this one. I would think it would be ok. Where is you broody in the pecking order? if she is near top you could probably get away with no barrier. And she will defend them, no chickens got close to mine until the second week. The big girls will peck them if the chicks get too close, but it should be a firm enough peck to tell the chick that it is lower them the girl pecking, not enough to cause damage. Again this is what mine did. Now if you have a meany, then things could be tricky. I watched Little Red very closely with my broody. But my broody was higher than LR in the order.

Well this just stinks, I woke up 2 hours earlier than I wanted too with eyes half swollen shut and lip area swollen too. Weird thing is I did not eat anything out of the ordinary yesterday and was wearing gloves while working on the pallet coop.

Perhaps the pallets had residue on them from their former life, or pollen that's been causing people grief these past few weeks?

Now don't be giving Christina/Just Bugged any ideas of what to do with her nasty little dogs.

I truly enjoyed meeting all of you at IKEA.

It was a long day for me too. After hauling canning jars to Dellana's house. I picked up another friend and went shopping for a new bathroom. Hauled home 2 pickup loads of cabinets, vanity, plumbing etc.
Now to install...

Man, I feel like I am just falling apart. There is always something wrong with me. I have bad wrists, the pain gets to the point that I can not even hold my phone in my hand cause it is to heavy for the pain in my wrists to handle. I have back problems because of being in so many car accidents with my "mom" when I was a little girl. I get massive pain in my knees and shins, and my Dad thought that I may have shin splints (what ever that is). But the worst pain of all.... is my teeth. I have so many bad teeth and use to feel really guilty when I would go to the dentist, but then one time a new dentist asked if I had any family with bad teeth and I informed them that yes both my "mom" and aunt have had major teeth issues. He said that is why I do...Wait, what. Yep he said he could tell that I take perfect care of my teeth, but no matter what I do I will always have big problems with them. Crud! Teeth pain is the only pain I can not handle. I would rather give birth over and over again than have any of this pain in my mouth. I am at the point where we are talking about having them all pulled out and having implants put in. I am way to young to have this done but, I have to do something.
Sorry guys, I am almost in tears right now (and I am not a crier) and just needed to kinda vent a bit.

I am very glad ya'll had so much fun at the meet up. I can't wait to meet all of you (that I have yet to meet) hopefully at the Monroe show!
