If you guys are getting wind like we are here, I sincerely hope your damage is minimal! It's supposed to be peaking about now with gusts in excess of 60mph. Already I have 2 gates practically ruined from it (not the first time it's happened) and large tree branches all over. The birds are stuck in their pen so they don't blow away!!!!! I don't even want to evaluate how messed up our Christmas lights are. We spent so much time on them

. Sounds like we are surrounded by areas getting blizzard warnings. So far we are in a hole of that type of storm. I have absolutely NO desire to step foot outside anymore today. The fight with the hot tub cover that was blown off put me in a bad mood and it sounds like a freight train even in the house. Oh well, it could always be worse than it is so I'm gonna try to be thankful it's not!

The sources I have read say 14 hours is good.

I am only giving my girls 3 extra hours of light right now but they are Orpingtons.

Just popped in to say Howdy !

Been very busy here with too much to even write down.
But to make the long story short, we are working on the roof trusses when ever we can...in between storms, then retarping the whole house.

Hey there, welcome to the forum!

14 hours is what I've seen most often suggested. Mine is a 40 watt bulb that's on a timer so they wake up at about 5:30 and lights out about 8:30 at night.
