Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

And thanks for the mother starter you gave me CarolynF. Soon as I recover from hurt back chasing stupid chicken syndrome I hope to use it!

I also enjoy hearing about everyone's canning adventures. Duck Chilli? I have a pot of ham hock and beans I am thinking of putting up in quart jars.

Hey there, how are you feeling today? You're very welcome for the SD starter, I love sharing it. Let me know what you bake and how it turns out. I just set some more this afternoon, I think I'll make lavender sourdough for our Christmas buffet. I'm not sure if the little DGDs will like that, so maybe some plain rolls, too.

We found an adorable rottweiler/pit bull mix in Longview.
I used to breed Rotts and a pit lives with us. Strong willed dogs. Be sure to pinch him hard and see how he reacts. If he shows aggression, move on, not for you. Obedience training is a must. You must be head (female dog, apparently the proper word for that is filtered, LOL) no matter what. With that said, they are the most wonderful dogs I can think of. So smart. And a mix, best or worst of both breeds. LOL.

@ Farminmomma, Sorry about the bird losses. My wife is 5'3" and as strong as an ox. I don't mess with her and I am 6' 215lbs. Like she says, big things come in tiny packages.

@ CL, good to see things progressing. And way to go Einstein for quiting smoking, I lost my grandparents to lung cancer and emphazema.

@ Itsren, congrats on the CC-POW. I saw it on FB and was, wait I have seen that coop before.

@ CR, If it wasn't the holidays(wifes extended family makes for extra busy holiday, starts this weekend) and I didn't have to work Sat night(Holiday schedule) I would load up my son and his friend living with us and we would come help. I like helping people too and sometimes distance is a major hurdle(like helping my cousin move to Kent area)

We didn't lose power, but had brown-outs last night, so chickies stayed warm. But now I have had snow falling this afternoon. Not sticking yet but it is only 35 at my house right now. Not ready for the white stuff yet

So I need a goose for a family dinner on the 28th of December. Does anyone have one to sell, or know of where I could buy a live goose?

Well, the last few times I've been to the Chehalis auction, they've had geese. BUT, it's a) a long drive and b) no guarantees. I'll give a friend a call and see if he has any left, but it's a long drive to Olympia too!

CaroylnF

those rolls looked lovely. I didn't get around to the SD the other night - just too tired. So I'm shooting for tomorrow. I got a couple of those round Pyrex tubes for making bread, so I'm going to make some of those. They slice so perfectly round, great for "Round" food! One SD/Rye and one Wholewheat/SD.

I did try some SD pancakes last weekend with chives in them - they were totally out of this world!

Hi everyone! I have my first real injury to deal with and would like your opinion. I found our Marans had a swollen ear and tried to drain. Only blood clots - no other colors of fluid - not even clear. Brought her in again and cleaned again today. Still just clots and no oozing anything.

Any ideas? Am I on the right path?
